Why: Nowplayingutah.com (NPU) was founded 10 years ago by Visit Salt Lake, the Utah Division of Arts & Museums, and Salt Lake County Zoo, Arts, and Parks (ZAP) to grow cultural audiences through calendaring. The site enjoys nearly 1 million unique visitors a year and features events from over 6,000 organizations. At NPU's founding, its board, the Utah Arts and Cultural Coalition, chose Visit Salt Lake to manage NPU. The board is now in a position to better focus on growing audiences through calendaring on a statewide level. After watching the growth of Utah Cultural Alliance (UCA), they have chosen UCA as their new manager. Press conference speakers will also talk about NPU's accomplishments over 10 years and highlight Free Night of Theatre, a program allowing free tickets to theatre performances across the state.
