John and Sherrie Watson have been privileged to spend the majority of their lives here in Farr West. They were married in 1974 after John’s mission in Mexico. Sherrie graduated that same year from Weber State in elementary education. They settled in Farr West with no desire of ever moving. They are the proud parents of five children and have 21 grandchildren. “We feel so blessed to have all of our children within just a couple of minutes of our home,” John said. John is the owner-operator of John watson Chevrolet. Sherrie has worked the past 45 years of their marriage making a house become a home and being the greatest mother and grandmother. Together they have watched their family grow and have been so blessed to live in a community where many have had such an impact on their lives and the lives of their children and grandchildren. John remembers Farr West before a freeway ran through the middle of it, when Smith and Edwards seemed like it was a twenty mile drive by bicycle! It sold war surplus, especially rocket fuel pellets, and there was only one church on the old highway. John commented, “I knew everyone and every house in Farr West from the Higley’s to the north and the Martin’s to the south, the Lund’s to the east and the Schoonmaker’s to the west. I also remember working hard, hauling hay and milking cows, hoeing sugar beets and riding horses everywhere. I loved this place and felt you couldn’t find a better place on earth.” The Watson’s have been involved with the 4th of July celebration since it started before we were a city and are proud to celebrate the growth and the many people that live and work in this community that makes it a great place to raise families today.
