The air is crisp the nights are cool
The sounds of ghosts and hauntings rule
The witches cast their thorny spells
And scratch their noses with gangly nails
Monsters walk the neighborhood streets
Their arms outstretched—their armpits reek!
Black cats scatter and run amuck
When stormy skies and lightening struck
The moanings of the nearby graves
Cry out in anguish to be saved
For Halloween is coming soon
That fateful night with a hazy moon
And all the creepers of the night
Want to scare and make a fright
For it’s the one day of the year
When giant monsters will appear
And wander all throughout your city
Some are shy some are witty
But if you want to be so brave
And dare to smile or even wave
At any of these spooky things
You’ll wish you had a pair of wings
For they will chase you up and down
Throughout the parks and into town
Just to shriek into your ear
So loudly that you cannot hear
Boo! To you this Halloween!
See? I’m really not that mean!
Then with a hug they’ll squeeze you tight
And vanish into the darkened night
And stupefied your thoughts will be
‘Cuz you just hugged a creepy knee!
