Sen. Lee Introduces the Protecting Utah’s Rural Economy (PURE) Act

WASHINGTON – Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) introduced the Protecting Utah’s Rural Economy (PURE) Act Wednesday, a bill that would protect Utah from presidential Antiquities Act abuse in much the same way Alaska and Wyoming are currently protected.

“Rural Americans want what all Americans want: a dignified decent-paying job, a family to love and support, and a healthy community whose future is determined by local residents – not their self-styled betters thousands of miles away,” Sen. Lee said.

“That is why I am introducing the Protecting Utah’s Rural Economy Act today, a bill that would protect Utah from future abuses under the Antiquities Act by prohibiting the president from establishing or expanding a national monument in Utah unless the proposed monument has been authorized by an act of Congress and the state legislature.”

Passed in 1906, the Antiquities Act was originally intended to protect objects of historic and cultural interest like artifacts and religious sites. Unfortunately, what was once a narrowly targeted tool for preventing looting on federal lands has become a weapon urban elites use against hard working rural Americans.

Two states, Alaska and Wyoming, both received protections from future Antiquities Act designations after millions of acres were restricted in those states. The PURE Act would give Utah’s rural communities a real voice in local land management policies, a voice they currently do not have today.

Tim Aalders Accepts Debate Challenge with Romney, Wilson, and Bowden

Accepts challenge from Democrat Party; Demands series of statewide debates in Salt Lake City, Logan, Duchesne, Moab, Richfield, and St. George with radio/TV simulcast

American Fork, UT – Conservative Republican US Senate candidate Tim Aalders, a candidate under the Constitution Party banner, today accepted the challenge from Democrat Party candidate Jenny Wilson to have a debate on the issues facing the voters of Utah.

Said Aalders, “I agree that when Mitt Romney said he would debate ‘from time to time’ that the time is now to confront his record of being on both sides of every issue that voters from Utah care about.  Whether he was for it before he was against it on abortion, gun rights, taxes, ObamaCare, and President Trump, voters need to know which side of the issues he is on in 2018.  Like a chameleon he continually changes his ‘long-held principles’ just like he did in 1994, 2002, 2008, and 2012.  Which Mitt does he want Utah to vote for?”

Aalders continued, “I appreciate Jenny Wilson’s call for a debate and will be glad to join the Republican, Democrat, and Libertarian candidates on stage to debate, but as well as Salt Lake City I would prefer to have a series of statewide debates in Logan, Duchesne, Moab, Richfield, and St. George.  If any TV or radio station were to host a debate to increase the education of the voters on the issues, I will be there.”

Tim Aalders is a small business owner and longtime Utah based nationally syndicated talk radio host running to become Utah’s next US Senator replacing Orrin Hatch.  The general election is November 8. For more information see www.TimAalders.com .

This is more than your typical drum clinic. From performances by local drummers/bands and hearing the story of entrepreneurship/SJC's humble beginnings, to learning professional tips from an artist and the opportunity to ask questions about touring, networking, and more, you'll leave the event feeling inspired to hone your own craft and take your passion for music to the next level. Best of all, these events are free and open to the public!  For more information on SJC Drums and The Loyal to the Craft Tour, please head to https://www.sjcdrums.com/

On this huge partnership and unique tour, SJC co-founder Mike Ciprari shares "I'm so excited to bring this show on the road with Frank and a sponsor like VANS, whose ethics, culture, creativity, and outside the box thinking they foster is so impactful. I've always been passionate about creating positive and inspiring events where drummers (and those who don't know they're a drummer yet!) can come out, watch a performance, and hang with a musician in an organic way. Frank is super active in the drumming community and equally as passionate about these ideas; having him show off his talents and inspire the youth to follow their dreams is so powerful!"

Each event will feature pop up shops with exclusive merchandise and gear on-site as well as a raffle for a custom SJC x Vans snare drum to be chosen at the end of tour. Local drummers and bands will perform at each event and participants will get to learn about everything from drums to business and more from both Frank and Mike. Whether they are just starting out as a drummer or have been playing for years, participants will gain valuable insight into many facets of performance and the music industry. Frank shares "Our vision is to inspire through the powerful art of music and drumming. Taking this on the road and collaborating together will be truly special and I couldn't be more thrilled to have my SJC family as a partner!"

Born in New York, Frank Zummo began drumming around age 3, when he discovered his father's drum kit. By age 7, he was an award-winning drummer, taking home top prize in Long Island Drum Centers "Battle of the Beats". Looking at Zummo's impressive resume, it's clear to see he never stopped. Zummo has performed on many TV shows over the years (The Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien Show, Hells Kitchen, Master Chef, American Idol & Glee). He has also recorded on many platinum & gold records with Artists Kelly Clarkson, Orianthi, Gary Numan & The Used as well as on scores for the films "Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World" and "Beautiful Creatures." Additionally, he has played for bands such as Julien-KDead By Sunrise (ft. Chester Bennington) and even filling in for injured Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee during 2009's Crüe Fest 2

The immensely talented drummer of punk-rock band Sum 41, EDM duo Krewella, and Street Drum Corps is part of the SJC Drum family. Frank and SJC partnered with Shepard Fairey, American contemporary street artist, graphic designer, activist, and founder of OBEY to create a custom drum kit. Finished by Shepard Fairey and titled "Rise Above," the one-of-a-kind drum kit now resides at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. The drum kit was used by Frank Zummo from 2016-2017 during Sum 41's U.S. and Canada tours, festivals and the 2017 Alternative Press Music Awards where Frank took home the award for Best Drummer and performed an epic battle with Josh Dun (Twenty One Pilots) and Adrian Young (DREAMCAR / No Doubt). The drum kit will remain at Hard Rock Hotel for the next three years with another portion of the kit taking up residence at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH.
