Harrisville – GreenWood Charter School is continuing to prepare students, parents, teachers, staff, and the community for a start date in August. School director Jessie Kidd is very excited for the new school year and for students and their families to get involved with GreenWood. In an e-mail, she said they are constantly updating their Facebook, Instagram, and school website pages in order to spread the word about what all is happening with GreenWood. She also mentioned how the school is still looking for potential students. “If you follow our Instagram page, you can see that we add pictures and updates as the building progresses. We are still on track for an August 1st completion date, but are preparing for a mid-August finish date,” she said. “Parents can learn more about the school on our website, greenwoodcharter.org, or our Facebook page, or our Instagram page for building updates.”
The school also holds family nights for anyone interested in having their children attend the school or want to learn how they can volunteer their time or learn more about what sets GreenWood apart from other charter schools. Upcoming family nights will be May 7, June 10, and July 15. All family nights are held at the Harrisville cabin located at 725 W. Harrisville Road at 7:00 pm.
According to the FAQ section on GreenWood’s website, “GreenWood focuses on educating the whole child while engaging the family to be involved in our school community. We believe that to be a better student, in school and in life, that one must learn to balance mind and body, heart and soul. Our aim is to develop a parent-teacher-child co-operative in which parents are involved with school and contribute to growing our GreenWood Forest.
