Second Family Announced for HGTV’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
Wadman Corp. to begin demolition to make way for new home for the Mayo family of Washington Terrace, Utah
Ogden, UT (August 11, 2019) – Yesterday aternoon the Mayo family of Washington Terrace was surprised with life-changing news that they were selected as the second family in the Ogden area to get a total home makeover from HGTV’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
For over 19 years, Kelly Mayo, the mother and grandmother of the home, has worked at an assisted living for seniors who need more care than their families can give them. While Kelly says that living in her home for the last 17 years is the best thing that has ever happened to her, she and her family have faced some significant challenges there over the last few years. In 2016 a tornado hit her neighborhood, knocking out power and uprooting a tree in her yard. As a result, the basement floods because the home’s drainage no longer works properly, leading to several issues including mold. Kelly’s big concern is that the mold is approaching the opposite side of the wall where her granddaughter’s room is. Other areas of the house also now need repair and upgrade.
“Wadman Corporation is excited to help change the life of a family that has changed the lives of so many in the community.” Said Dave Hogan, President of Wadman Corporation. “We hope that this home will take some stress off of Kelly, and her family, so that she can continue to be as generous with her time as she has been up to this point.”
On August 9th, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition selected another family in the Ogden area as a recipient of another new home. This is the first time that Extreme Makeover: Home Edition has picked two deserving families in the same community to build new homes for. In addition, no contractor has ever built two homes at the same time for the show. “Wadman Corporation’s ability to execute two projects of this size was clear to us, as was their passion and desire to give back to the community,” said Executive Producer, Brady Connell.
In each episode, the show chooses a family in need, demolishes their existing home, then designs and builds a new home in one week. Wadman Corporation was chosen to demolish the Mayo’s existing home and build a new home for this deserving family.
While Wadman Corporation has taken the lead in planning, organizing and mobilizing the construction effort, this project relies on community support and hundreds of volunteers to build a home for the Mayo family in one week. Individuals and companies interested in volunteering their time, or donating money or supplies for the Mayo family can do so at https://www.wadman.com/extrememakeover
Note to Media: During the week-long build, a media tent will be available for all qualified media. The Mayo family media tent can be accessed at 4793 S 200 E, Washington Terrace, UT 84405. The Barobi family media tent can be accessed at 517 E 22nd St, Ogden, UT 84401. Download parking maps and media assets here: https://bit.ly/2KK7zbo
