Plain City—Election Day is November 4th. Everyone is encouraged to come out and vote. If you haven't checked out the Weber County Election website lately, you are missing out. There has been a lot of hard work to update it with useful information and resources to help Weber County voters be informed.

The City also has a reminder: “Only Rain down the Drain,” as everyone is cleaning before winter hits to make sure that the lawn clippings, garbage & leaves are not going down the gutters. The water quality downstream affects each and every person. Beware of what is going in the street or gutters.  Too much debris increases the amount of weeds and grass that grow in the crack between the asphalt and the gutters. In the last months everyone has been busy landscaping and many are not aware it is illegal to have materials, rock, dirt, etc. dumped in the street. Dumping materials in the street could enter into the storm drain and effect water quality. There is a possibility that if it causes an accident, the home owner could be liable.

Plain City would like to remind everyone that the sewer rate has increased to $34.90. This was enacted after holding public hearing back on August 16, 2012, and after considerable deliberation, the Plain City Council has approved a sewer rate increase. Starting at $19.00, the rates then increased $2 per month in July 2013 and $2 again on July 2014. There is a small section of the City that is connected to the line that goes to Central Weber Sewer Improvement District. Due to Central Weber's charge on that line increasing to $21.10, their monthly sewer rate will increase to $32.60.  On July 1, 2014, this rate went to $34.90. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the mayor or any member of the City Council.

A reminder that Plain City will be piping the open-drain ditch on 1975 W, east of the Maverik. Curb, gutter, and sidewalk will be placed and the road widened from 4100 W to 3600 W. This will make it a much safer area for bicycles and pedestrian traffic. Expect some lane closures. Please plan accordingly.

Boys Basketball 1st – 9th grades registration is from October 15th – November 15th (late registration November 16th- November 29th). 1st and 2nd grade basketball will be played on a weeknight to be announced. Games will go until the middle of March. 3rd and up will be played on Saturdays, game times will vary throughout the day and may be played at the surrounding cities of Pleasant View, Harrisville, Farr West and North Ogden. (*Please Note: If you are on the Junior High Basketball team, you cannot play in this recreation league.  However, 7th grade Red Shirt players are allowed.)
