Insomnia is a darkly comedic, single-camera, limited series about Nikhil Sharma (Vishaal Reddy) - a struggling bi-sexual Indian-American writer who can't seem to get his life together. Nikhil secretly starts moonlighting as a male escort in New York City, and through his darkly absurd, late-night adventures, he finds himself dealing with racism, sexuality, loneliness, and a lack of sleep. Taking cues from shows such as Master of None, Louie, Fleabag, and High Maintenance, this is Nikhil's journey to find love, happiness, and his true identity. This is a story about growing up. And failing. A lot.
After spending years being frustrated by both the lack and misrepresentation of roles for someone of his race and sexuality, Reddy decided to take matters into his own hands and create a role of his own. The concept for the show spawned from real-life experience out in NYC where he was approached by a stranger, who had asked him to consider taking a job as a male escort. The series was directed by award-winning director, Michelle Cutolo, and also stars Nikki Renee Daniels (Hamilton, The Book of Mormon), Aneesh Sheth (High Maintenance, Difficult People, New Amsterdam), Cheech Manahar (Mean Girls The Musical), Alison Barton (Master of None), Kuhoo Verma (The Big Sick), and more.
Reddy was able to get Insomnia off of the ground with the help of a Kickstarter with over 190 backers, and the series has already been heralded by Wussy Mag, The Teal Mango, India West, and more.
Vishaal Reddy is an NYC transplant, originally from Tennessee. He received his undergraduate degree at Boston University, studying Business Administration and Theater. Upon moving to NYC, he was a part of numerous off-Broadway plays and musicals, while also diving into the television//film world (recent credits include The Punisher, Bull, and Big Dogs). Feeling frustrated with the industry's portrayal of Indian characters, he started writing and producing his own screenplays and sketches. Most recently, Reddy completed the Tribeca Film Creators Market, where he was selected as one of the N.O.W. creators, and has been a special guest at Buzzfeed HQ, where he had a chance to chat all things Insomnia during a panel. His ultimate goal is to use Insomnia as a platform to launch a production company, focusing on the stories of Asian Americans and members of the LGBTQ+ community, as Asian characters make up less than 3% of on-screen characters, and only 4.8% of television characters identify as LGBTQ+.

Farmers Market Ogden Launches 2019 Summer Season
June 22nd – Ogden, Utah. The award-winning Farmers Market Ogden “Best Place for Family Fun” is back for another 13-week summer season! Join Ogden Downtown Alliance on Historic 25th Street Saturdays from 9 am to 2 pm, June 22nd to September 14th. With over 200 vendors spanning three full blocks of Historic 25th Street from Washington Boulevard to Wall Avenue, Farmers Market Ogden offers a day out for shopping local, stocking up on fresh produce and connecting with our community.
Enjoy outdoor community yoga classes with And She’s Dope Too weekly at 9 am in the Municipal Gardens, live music by local artists throughout the market, fresh produce, artisans, pop up art, prepared foods, cultural performances, kids’ activities and more!
As a huge supporter of the arts, Farmers Market Ogden is proud to be able to highlight local talent. Last year Farmers Market Ogden showcased 127 live and local performances including local musicians, bands, poets and pop up performances by groups such as Hana Studios, Nurture the Creative Mind and Esperanza Elementary School! Community activity spaces switch out weekly offering new ways to engage and learn about our community with over 55 nonprofit organizations participating last summer.
Farmers Market Ogden will host its 3rd Annual Beets & Beats Pop Up Artist Studio on June 29th during the market. Formerly, Beets & Beats has been a kickoff event prior to the summer season but has grown to become a favorite amongst the local arts scene, needing space to grow. Stop by the Municipal Gardens at the corner of Historic 25th Street and Grant Avenue from 9 am to 2 pm to watch a selection of local artists painting their rendition of the Farmers Market Ogden beet logo on 4'x4' canvas sheeting. Vote for your favorite painting and enjoy live music (the beats to go with the beets). The winning artist will receive a cash prize from Ogden Downtown Alliance.
As a platform for vendors and businesses to thrive and the community to mingle, Farmers Market Ogden acts as a preview of a much larger community movement to support local. Candice Ortiz with Gaia Henna says she is excited to be celebrating her 10th year vending with Farmers Market Ogden, “I’ve been practicing since 2005, but Farmers Market Ogden has given me the opportunity to turn my passion into a successful business.”
Additionally, Farmers Market Ogden is a great platform to forge friendships and grow networks. “Farmers Market Ogden has helped me connect with local business owners. For example, I now supply wheat grass and alfalfa sprouts to The Good Life Café and pea shoots, arugula, basil, kale and cilantro to Tona Sushi because they found me at the market” says Jon Contos of Arrowhead Urban Farms, “it’s also a great way to educate the community on the benefits of eating organically.”

"People have always migrated, like the butterflies, animals, natural creatures,"
stated Mayra Cedano, Communidades Unidas, Utah at a recent event sponsored
by SUWA - The Quiet Force film showing. MOSAIC was provided fundraiser
monies from this event for work with refugee and economic immigrant
communities.
Indeed, the natural migration of people, caused by natural disasters or human
conflicts, is about learning to include, enrich and build, strengthened
people, communities and wide-community! What better way than joining in
the celebration of many prayers at MOSAIC Inter-Faith Ministries which
emphasizes the prayers of many faiths and the thoughtful priorities of
Millenials (age 23-39) on World
We encourage the media to highlight this important journey of the
people; and to encourage humankind to embrace humankind as
they migrate in patterns as old as the first humans - or maybe the
first animals. And we encourage the media to highlight the rich and
thoughtful spiritual insights of millenial priorities in this age which
are so important to the life of the person caught in migratory
patterns not of their own choosing caused by conflicts; and in need
of economic opportunity and security.
Bring a potluck dish to share - and know that the Tongan and Turkish
communities are roasting a lamb which was prayed over in the halal
ways (Muslim) for the Day. You, your friends and family are welcome!
For details of this media covered event, please see the attached flyer! All
are very welcome!
Summer Blessings,
Dr. Leslie Whited
