Just this past week, Fremont’s Track and Field, both boys and girls, took third place at City County, hosted at Roy High School. The boys scored 81 points and the girls scored 128.33, giving us the overall score of 209.33; we even had Tiffany Parslow already qualify for state in long jump! Next time a close track meet comes around, which happens to be April 30th at Fremont, go and support. There’s a lot more to the sport than just running, it’s athletes testing their limits.
While our school’s dress code will be fully enforced at Morp, which means you cannot sport shorty shorts, tanks tops or coconut bras, there are still plenty of opportunities for creative attire at this Hawaiian-themed bash. Our idea of “Hawaiian” attire often consists of button down shirts with a large floral motif print, khaki shorts, and brown leather sandals, reminiscent of a 1980’s Tom Selleck in Magnum PI. However, some of our students have thought outside of the box. Josie Taylor, a sophomore at Fremont High school, will be rocking a “sarong, sandals, a lei and white shirt.” While one person in a couple has greater influence over wardrobe decision, you should always make sure your date agrees with and will be comfortable in the outfit. Sophomore Hannah Koford says, “We didn’t choose them together, I kind of took charge and made sure to get his approval.” Look for Hannah to be wearing capris and a floral shirt, and her date Jace Wade in a shirt in the same color scheme. Hannah chose these to be “coordinated but not matchy and still go along with the theme!” Matching Shirts at casual dances have always been popular. In 1984, Lori Slater and her date Keith Harris wore matching palm tree motif “muscle” tees to Weber High’s Hawaiian-themed Morp. This year several Silver Wolves will also embrace this look. Raechel Brown and Hayden Oram, both sophomores, with black and white floral print tees. Kyla Hosley and Tennik Varble, both juniors, will attend Morp in palm tree prints. Whether or not you choose to look like you blend into a Jimmy Buffet pre-concert party is entirely up to you. With a little extra effort and creativity, you can go beyond the Parrothead look for this year’s Morp on April 17th.
