Young archers competing at the Western Hunting & Conservation Expo

What: Tomorrow, more than 1,000 young archers will showcase their skills and compete in Utah’s ninth annual state archery tournament for youth. (The first state tournament had only 44 participants.) This year, the youth will again compete during the Western Hunting & Conservation Expo. Representing dozens of different schools, the youth all participate in the National Archery in the Schools Program. Designed for students in grades four through twelve, this program has helped teach youth essential skills and made a positive difference in their focus, self-confidence and enthusiasm about school. Reporters and photographers are invited to attend the tournament and learn how archery is helping Utah students succeed.

Southern Utah

Fish Lake perch tournament expected to draw more than 1,000 anglers

What: Next Saturday, one of the state’s biggest ice-fishing tournaments will be held in southern Utah. More than 1,000 anglers are already registered for the Fish Lake Perch Tournament, where they hope to catch as many yellow perch as possible. Reporters and photographers are invited to attend the tournament and capture the excitement. Perch fishing can be extremely fast at Fish Lake, and participants will likely catch hundreds of fish throughout the day. For additional details on the tournament and prizes, please see http://bit.ly/perch_tourney.

Improving habitat for mule deer herds

What: Habitat-improvement projects don’t stop in the winter months. There’s relatively good weather in southern Utah, and range crews are using bullhogs to improve thousands of acres of mule deer habitat. Bullhogs are heavy machines that tear out and shred pinyon pine and Utah juniper trees, leaving room for the widespread growth of sagebrush, grasses and flowering plants. On one project alone, habitat crews are using 15 bullhogs to remove overgrown pinyon-juniper vegetation. In a couple of years — long after the loud, messy machinery is gone — this project area will offer better habitat for mule deer and many other species. The DWR is just one partner in this multi-phase Watershed Restoration Initiative project. Reporters and photographers are invited to join DWR range personnel in the field and see the proactive habitat work that will benefit wildlife for years to come. To see footage of a DWR bullhog in action, visit http://j.mp/1TDQY81.

When: Projects are already underway and will continue through much of February.

Northern Utah

Trapping and relocating nuisance turkeys

What: Our snowy winter weather has pushed a lot of turkeys onto private property in Cache County, and the birds can make a big mess. DWR biologists are trapping nuisance birds and moving them to bolster populations in other areas of the state. Reporters and photographers are invited to join the biologists as they capture the birds. You’ll have a chance for some good photos and video as well as interviews with the biologists who manage these large, beautiful birds.

Cellular Sales Opens New Store in Ogden, Utah

New Verizon Wireless to add jobs in Ogden community

OGDEN, Utah, February 12, 2019—Cellular Sales, the largest independent Verizon Wireless retailer by volume, announces their expansion in Utah with a new store in Ogden. Over the next year, the store is expected to add new jobs within the local community.

On January 26, the store located at 12th Street and Lincoln Avenue welcomed its first customers. This is Cellular Sales’ sixth store in Utah but their first store in Ogden.

“We are proud to continue our expansion within the great state of Utah,” said Cellular Sales Regional Director Colby Smith. “Giving our customers accessibility to a wonderful face-to-face experience is our goal with our new Ogden store.”

The store currently employs six team members with plans to add at least ten new team members as the store continues to grow over the next year.

Cellular Sales has grown significantly over the past 25 years, due to their innovative approach to customer service. It has been named to Inc. Magazine’s 5000 list of the fastest growing companies nine times, achieving Hall of Fame status.

To ensure that new team members can become an integral part of the team and are equipped with the best possible tools for success, recruits train with senior sales reps for four to six weeks, before selling on their own. Team members are encouraged to view themselves as entrepreneurs with the support of an established, successful company backing them up.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects demand for retail sales jobs to grow over the next decade and sales experience will be valuable. Cellular Sales understands the value of great training and support from a personal and professional development point of view.

“Cellular Sales’ team members are known for their attentive customer service,” said Cellular Sales Regional Director James Russell. “We look forward to providing impeccable customer service through our new excellent team members.”

Cellular Sales seeks to hire individuals with a passion for customer service to work at its 12th Street store in Ogden. Those interested in applying for jobs at this Cellular Sales location may contact Cellular Sales Recruiter Daniel Rossi at (315) 264-6515 or daniel.rossi@cellularsales.com.
