Good morning.
First, thanks for reading UtahPolicy.com.
I appreciate our partnership between two great digital policy outlets - UtahPolicy.com and State of Reform - which allows me the opportunity to tell you about an interesting policy conversation happening next week.
Rep. Jim Dunnigan and Sen. Gene Davis will talk about Medicaid reform in the 2019 session, and the future of the health program.
They are teed up as part of our Lunch Keynote program, which includes a conversation with Dr. Joe Miner of the Utah Dept. of Health.
You can check out the complete Topical Agenda here.
The 2019 Utah State of Reform Health Policy Conference is one of Utah's largest, most diverse convenings of senior health care executives and health policy leaders. In addition to Dunnigan, Davis and Miner, you'll see a number of influential names among the 65 speakers on the agenda, including:
Rep. Brad Daw: Chair, House Health and Human Services Committee
Chandra Gowda, MD: Chief Medical Officer, Molina Healthcare of Utah
Rep. Brian King: House Minority Leader
Erin Jemison: Director of Public Policy, YWCA Utah
Peter Weir, MD: Executive Medical Director, University of Utah Health
Matt Slonaker: Executive Director, Utah Health Policy Project
Kevin Porter: CEO, Ogden Clinic
Aimee Winder Newton: Council Member, Salt Lake County
Rick Larsen: President, Sutherland Institute
Chris Klomp: CEO, Collective Medical
This is going to be a great event with a few hundred of your closest friends in Utah health care.
We would be honored to have you and your executive team register to join us on April 24th!
To that end, and for reading to the end of this email, you can save 20% when you register by using the code "UtahPolicy" when you sign up.
If you have any questions at all, be sure to email me. I'll be happy to get right back to you.
Sincerely,
DJ Wilson

Bishop Statement Upon Release of Mueller Report
WASHINGTON – In compliance with the law, United States Attorney General William P. Barr has released a report produced by Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller. Mueller was appointed to investigate Russian interference with the 2016 presidential election and related matters. Following the release of the Special Counsel report, Rep. Rob Bishop (UT-01) issued the statement below:
“I am encouraged that we may now turn the page on this distracting chapter of US history. The office of the Attorney General and the Special Counsel have concluded that there was no collusion and no obstruction. I am satisfied with these conclusions and ready to move forward. I urge all my congressional colleagues to return their attention to legislating and serving our constituents.”

Karting News
Winter is trying its hardest to hang on, but we’re fighting the good fight and getting this racing season kicked off! There’s lots of news on the karting front to share, so let’s get going!
We have hired a new manager for the UMC Kart Center. Jody Niemann comes to us from Las Vegas and she is awesome! We’re happy to have her join the team, and she has lots of plans to improve the karting experience for our rental and corporate patrons as well as our amateur and pro kart racers. We are now open for kart rentals, but pay attention to our social media and website for updates on hours. Renovation of the Kart Center building is almost complete, but has a few weeks to go to be ready for guests. With the weather the way it’s been lately, be sure to, as Jody says, “Call before you haul!” (435-277-8000, then press 0) Stay tuned for upcoming news about UMC karting leagues, membership programs and more!
We’re throwing out the welcome mat for the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) Pro Tour SpringNationals on May 3-5. The event is the second stop on the three-weekend Pro Tour, which is the largest and most prestigious national championship series in American karting. The season-opening WinterNationals were held in Fontana, CA in March and the series finale - the SummerNationals - will take place in August in New Castle, IN, just east of Indianapolis. The SpringNationals at UMC will include 11 different classes spread over six age groups, including Micro (ages 7-10), Mini (ages 9-13), Junior (ages 12-15), Senior (15+), Master (30+) and Super Master (45+). The categories feature 125cc shifter karts, 125cc single-speed liquid-cooled engines, and both 100cc and 60cc air-cooled motors. The drivers practice all day on Friday and then run full and separate race programs on Saturday and Sunday with qualifying, prefinals, and finals. Free admission for spectators, so come on out and check out the stars of the future!
Two weeks after the SKUSA Spring Nationals, we’ll be hosting the Stars and Stripes Trophy, a national event for Rotax-powered karts promoted by J3 Competition over the May 17-19 weekend. The Stars and Stripes Trophy event is part of the revival of the globally-popular Rotax Max Challenge in the United States and is a special event that will attract racers for all over the country to UMC with the goal of winning a spot on Team USA for this fall's international Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals in Sarno, Italy. The event will feature six different classes, including Micro Max (ages 7-10), Mini Max (ages 9-13), Junior Max (ages 12-15), Senior Max (15+), Masters Max (30+) and the two-speed DD2 Max 125cc. Again, free admission to see some fantastic racing, so come on out!
With the two big pro karting events coming up, we’re putting on a three-day Test and Tune session for kart racers on April 26-28. Hours will be 9-5 each day, with concession karting following. Prices for participants are $100/day in advance, or $120 on the day-of. Use these links to register:
