Dear winners, you are all winners in my opinion, we have completed the evaluation process of essays for the fourth Annual Public American Spirit Essay Contest. You made our job very difficult but we are proud to announce the standings.
All essays were read and the top ones moved on to a final review with three judges independently reading them and ranking them one thru five; a point value was assigned with 5 points for first place and 4,3,2,1 according to standing and scores added up. In both age groups (50+ and under 50) it was close with there being only one point difference between 1st and 2nd in each group. So, we have expanded the awards to include 2nd and 3rd place.
