$140 donations stolen from Humane Society of Utah
Suspect caught on video removing money from donation box at animal shelter
A staff member noticed money missing from a donation box Wednesday, Jan. 31 around 6:20 p.m. in the Humane Society of Utah Adoption Center lobby. Security video shows two Caucasian suspects in their late 20s near a fundraising table at 5:30 p.m. in the lobby entrance where plexiglass donation boxes are located. The video shows the man reaching into the box and then putting something into his bag. $140 was found missing from one box. A police report has been filed, and the Humane Society of Utah is asking the public to contact the Murray Police Department with any tips or information.
The male appears to be around 5’8” to 5’10” and 160 to 180 pounds wearing a royal blue jacket and a baseball hat. A blonde woman wearing a purple hoodie was seen with him, around 5’7” to 5’9” and 130 to 150 pounds.
“It’s disappointing to see donations that have been generously given by the public to help the animals in need at our facility be taken from them,” said Deann Shepherd, HSU representative. “We hope that someone may have information to help the police apprehend this man and bring him to justice.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Hadley with the Murray Police at 801-264-2688 regarding case #18C002137.

This year, the youth will again compete during the Western Hunting & Conservation Expo.
