Utah GOED, Education and Industry Partners Announce Architecture, Engineering and Construction Pathway

 

SALT LAKE CITY (April 2, 2019) — Talent Ready Utah, an initiative housed within the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED), announces the Utah Architecture, Engineering and Construction Pathway program at the Weber State University (WSU) Davis Campus. WSU President Brad Mortenson, GOED, construction leaders and other officials were on hand with more than 500 students at a Design-Build Day on March 29, 2019, to kick-off the program.

 

“The construction industry supports every industry in our state, and is the catalyst to ensure our growing state can keep up with the growing demand,” said Val Hale, executive director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. “This new pathway program has the support of industry, which is driving the conversations, reviewing curriculum and most importantly, providing opportunities for students.”

 

The Utah Architecture, Engineering and Construction Pathway program will be a catalyst to a high-demand and high-paying jobs in the state of Utah. Students can enter the pathway as early as the eighth grade and continue through high school, technical college and Weber State University. They can earn stackable credentials along the way.

 

Weber State University Department of Construction and Building Sciences is a leader in this Talent Ready Utah pathway program. Other institutions participating are Davis Technical College, Ogden–Weber Technical College, Davis School District, Weber School District, Ogden School District and Morgan School District. Also instrumental in the planning was the State Board of Education and the Department of Workforce Services.
