Book intertwines personal testimony, Scripture and the nature of God
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Art Shotwell believes that in today's culture, huge numbers of people either do not believe in God or have a distorted view about the nature of God and God’s interaction with people throughout history. His book titled “Truth from the Earth: End-Time Prophecies—Fulfilled and Soon to Be Fulfilled” (published by Xlibris in November 2015) affirms God's visit to earth in the person of Jesus Christ, God's desire for how people should interact with God and each other and lesser known signs which God has stipulated must occur before Jesus returns to reign in glory.
Written in semi-autobiographical format, the book intertwines personal testimony, Scripture and the nature of God. Shotwell shows how seemingly trivial or isolated events combine with sad or challenging circumstances over a period of years or even decades to “work together for good” according to Romans 8:28. For him, these same events may be key factors necessary for people to experience in order to fulfill the plans and purposes God has for nations or individuals as described in Jeremiah 29:11.
The book addresses issues that are either unclear or unmentioned in the Bible. These include the fate of infants or small children who die before having faith or being baptized; what happens to those who may have gone through life without knowing Christ as their personal savior; and entire populations who have never heard of Christ over many centuries. The book also identifies the “unpardonable sin” in a manner that removes all doubts and questions. It also confronts serious misinterpretation of scripture in what Shotwell calls “God’s Greatest Truth or Satan’s Greatest Deception.”
Finally, Shotwell compares the commentary on Habakkuk — uncovered in the Dead Sea Scrolls — to events in modern history, showing that this prophecy of things which were destined for the last generation have been fulfilled. Additionally, he describes in detail another archeological discovery yet to be revealed which can be verified scientifically and will be incontrovertible proof to Jews and gentiles alike that God is real and Jesus is Lord and Savior.
“I want readers to have a greater awareness of God's love for all humankind as exemplified in Christ's death on the cross,” Shotwell says. “Readers should also develop their own love for the rest of humanity. This is the only way we can have the unity, the oneness, mentioned in Jesus' prayer as recorded in John 17.”

About the Author
Art Shotwell is the son and grandson of ordained ministers. By the age of 15, he had taught all ages of Sunday school except the nursery and adults. As a teenager, he was the worship leader of his church youth group and served as associate chaplain of Aaron House while in college. He studied the Bible at Graceland College (now Graceland University) and was ordained in 1966. Combined with a study of history, this lead to a realization that the age in which humanity is living is the fulfillment of a prophecy of things destined to take place in the last generation before Jesus returns in glory.
