EPA To Hold PFAS Community Engagement in Colorado Springs

DENVER (July 20, 2018) — Starting on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will hold the third PFAS community engagement event in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This two-day public event allows EPA to hear directly from Colorado communities, Mountain West states, and local and tribal partners about their experiences with PFAS.

WHAT:     Colorado Springs PFAS Community Engagement

WHEN:    Tuesday, August 7, 2018: Listening Session
                                                        4:00 PM MST — 10:00 PM (MST)

Wednesday, August 8, 2018: Working Session
                                                        9:45 AM — 12:00 PM (MST)

WHERE:  Hotel Eleganté Conference & Event Center
                                                       2886 S. Circle Dr.
                                                       Colorado Springs, CO 80906

The Colorado community engagement event will consist of two sessions — a public listening session and PFAS working session — to hear from the public; provide tools to assist states, tribes, and local communities in addressing challenges with PFAS in the environment; and understand ways EPA can best support the work that’s being done at the state, local, and tribal level.

Both days are open to the public and press. If you are interested in attending the event, please register here: https://www.epa.gov/pfas/forms/pfas-community-engagement-colorado-springs-co. Those interested in speaking should also select the option to speak while registering.

Background

PFAS is a group of man-made chemicals that have been widely used in everyday products since the 1940s. But PFAS compounds also can enter the environment, raising concerns about the potential environmental and health risks.

Addressing PFAS is a national priority. At the National Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C. in May, EPA announced the following four-step action plan:

  1. EPA will initiate steps to evaluate the need for a maximum contaminant level (MCL) for PFOA and PFOS. We will convene our federal partners and examine everything we know about PFOA and PFOS in drinking water.
  2. EPA is beginning the necessary steps to propose designating PFOA and PFOS as “hazardous substances” through one of the available statutory mechanisms, including potentially CERCLA Section 102.
  3. EPA is currently developing groundwater cleanup recommendations for PFOA and PFOS at contaminated sites and will complete this task by fall of this year.
  4. EPA is taking action in close collaboration with our federal and state partners to develop toxicity values for GenX and PFBS by this summer.

EPA has conducted similar engagements with communities impacted by PFAS in New Hampshire and Pennsylvania, and will be headed to North Carolina next month. These events are critical to understand ways the Agency can best support the work that’s being done at the state, local, and tribal levels. Using information from the National Leadership Summit, community engagement events, and public input provided by the docket, EPA plans to develop a PFAS Management Plan for release later this year.

GOLDN

Releases

Once Upon A Star Pt. 1

Today Here

"GOLDN has an addictively angsty sound, full of drama and passion

similar to The Weeknd and Bazzi." - Ones to Watch

"'Break It' incorporates elements of trap and R&B into an excellent pop song.

The staccato beats, finger snaps and all, emphasize the physical trauma that comes

with a breaking heart by sounding like it was literally snapped in two." - Atwood Magazine

July 20th, 2018 - LOS ANGELES, CA - GOLDN, the avante-garde musician making waves within the music industry has dropped Pt. 1 of his Once Upon A Star project today. Featuring new songs "Break It" and "Love Me Blind", which premiered yesterday with Atwood Magazine and Ones To Watch, respectively, this collection is part of a larger "storybook" project all about love, heartbreak and finding yourself on the other side of it all. "It's about the phases of love, heartbreak and what comes next -- painting the story of who I am today." Once Upon A Star is available for fans to stream today at https://goldn.lnk.to/onceuponastar

GOLDN is difficult to pin down with words. He is a visual and audible force with undeniable talent and charisma with laser like vision and a concrete sense of self. Once Upon A Star is a project that tells a story so many people know too well. GOLDN started off his description of the project sharing "So this is where it gets intense. I met this girl. I realized if I gave her my heart, she'd probably break it and just smoke it." Each song is preceded by the start of a new chapter in this story, which will only continue to grow as time goes on. "This is the chapter where I basically said f**** everyone's advice, I'm going to go for it anyway." Fans have to stay tuned to see how this story ends.

GOLD's musical influences range from hip hop to punk rock to pop. Atwood Magazine heralded his ability to cross genre lines sharing that "'Break It' is a midseason grab for an essential late summer track, with a great pop instrumental and all the epic emotions of mid-2000's pop-punk."

Not only a solo artist, GOLDN is sought after to creatively join some of the biggest names across genres as a songwriter, collaborator, guest vocalist and more. He recently celebrated the release of "Be Right Here," a massive summer hit collaboration with Kungs and Stargate. The release of "Mama I'm So Sorry" brought about comparisons to "The Weeknd's melodies and early Kanye" via Ladygunn.

"I'm trying to build, trying to be a voice for the culture, trying to affect the next generation. My goal is to be that rockstar of emotions. Going through life numb is a crazy, dangerous thing. I want to create a safe space for my audience to be whoever they want to be. Truly expressing the way you feel is the only way you find yourself." This goal is being recognized by fans and press, with Ones to Watch recently sharing that "He throws mainstream relatability to the wayside, breaking down the social pressure to be masculine to the point of restraining emotion."

For GOLDN, it's all about starting a conversation, earning the audience's trust, and then opening up a dialogue for completely free expression. He holds the keys to a whole new universe you haven't seen yet.

TRASH BOAT

Crown Shyness Out Now

Catch Trash Boat On

Vans Warped Tour All Summer

July 20, 2018 - Trash Boat's new album Crown Shyness is out today via Hopeless Records. On it, the band push toward the light as they explore similarly disparate emotions, juxtaposing hard-fought introspection against external strife to create a propulsive, captivating blend of punk and melodic hardcore. Crown Shyness was produced by Andrew Wade (A Day To Remember, Neck Deep). Fans can listen here: smarturl.it/CrownShyness

Earlier this month, they released "Old Soul", and last month, the band shared the single and music video for "Inside Out". The first single, "Shade", premiered on BBC's Radio 1 Rock Show with Daniel P. Carter in May.

"Crown Shyness" is defined as a naturally occurring phenomenon in some tree species where the upper most branches in a forest canopy avoid touching one another. The visual effect is striking as it creates clearly defined borders akin to cracks or rivers in the sky when viewed from below. There exist many hypotheses as to why crown shyness is an adaptive behavior.

Ultimately, Crown Shyness is overflowing with acceptance and understanding. Because Trash Boat don't shut the darkness out-they invite it in, knowing the only way to break through that canopy and into the sunlight above is to embrace life's obstacles head-on and work every day to defeat them.

"Throughout my life, I've always found music as something that challenges me," explains vocalist Tobi Duncan. "Sometimes you hear a song that hits you so hard, it feels like it was exactly what you needed to hear at that moment. The spark could change your day and challenge you. That's what this album did: It challenged my anxiety, my family, my responsibilities, my past, my future. I spent a lot of time looking inward, and now the album is ready to reach out."

Currently, Trash Boat is on the road this summer for the entire and final cross country run of the 2018 Vans Warped Tour. A remaining list of dates can be found below. Tickets are on sale now at www.vanswarpedtour.com/dates
