Utah Human Race to Benefit Utah Food Bank

Run With an Attitude of Gratitude on Thanksgiving Morning!

SALT LAKE CITY - October 20, 2014 -   Utah Food Bank is proud to announce that registration is officially open for the 9th annual Utah Human Race, held on Thanksgiving morning (November 27th). This family-friendly 5K/10K race is held annually in Draper to give Utahns a chance to "run with an attitude of gratitude." As a major component of Utah Food Bank's annual Holiday Food and Fund Drive, every sponsorship dollar and registration fee raised from the race directly benefits Utah Food Bank's mission of Fighting Hunger Statewide. One of the largest 5K/10K events in Utah, last year the race had over 5,500 participants and Utah Food Bank is hoping for even more this year - proceeds from last year's race equated to 362,000 meals for Utahns facing hunger. With 1 in 5 Utah children unsure where their next meal is coming from, participants will have a direct impact on those kids and their families.

In addition to families and individuals, Utah Food Bank encourages businesses, high school teams, church groups, and local organizations to join as a group to demonstrate how Utah's communities come together to support those in need. "It's amazing to see the number of families, individuals, and businesses that have made this race a tradition," said Ginette Bott, Chief Development Officer at Utah Food Bank. "We already have several large corporate groups participating including University of Utah Health Care, EMC, C.R. England Global Transportation, and TD Ameritrade. We highly encourage anyone participating to make it even more fun by wearing a costume on race day."

The race route is certified by USA Track & Field, and begins and ends at the Draper Spectrum at 12101 S. State Street. The 10K race begins at 7:30am, while the 5K race begins at 8:00am. Registration fees are $20 for the 5K race and $25 for the 10K race. For groups of 5 or more, there is a $5 discount per person. Registration closes on November 24th at noon. There is no same-day registration. For further race details, please visit www.UtahHumanRace.org.

This year's Title Sponsor is Siegfried & Jensen, and the Media Partner is Rewind 100.7. Additional sponsors include University of Utah Health Care, Discover Card, O.C. Tanner Company, EMC, and Macy's.
