School for his Eagle Scout Project.  With the help of his family and troop, Derek researched the project, raised the money, and ordered the benches.  With the help of the school’s counselor, Mrs. Ramage, and the 2015-16 peer leaders, a video was made introducing the purpose of the buddy bench. Thanks to Derek, there are these awesome benches reminding us to reach out and include each other for many years to come.

North Ogden’s Business of the Month for December is All Aflutter. They have all kinds of things for wild bird and nature- bird houses, bird seed, and bird bathes along with yard and garden décor. They believe there is something for everyone in the store at every price range, and for all ages! Despite being such a new business, they’ve already had a huge impact on the residents of North Ogden: All Aflutter is located at 1933 North Washington Blvd. Their phone number is (801) 782-6771.

The hours of business are: Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM-6:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, closed Sunday. Their website is: www.all-aflutter.com, and you can check them out on Facebook.

As November’s business of the month, North Ogden is pleased to welcome Hug-Hes Café to the business community.  Hug-Hes Cafe was started in 1988 by Blake and Kathryn Hawkins in Ogden. The name is a play on Kathryn's maiden name, Hughes. This will be their 4th location. There are restaurants in Ogden, Layton and Syracuse, and will now have one right here in North Ogden. They offer a wide variety of foods from sandwiches, salads, and burgers to full dinner entrees including chicken fried steak, chicken Alfredo, stuffed pasta and shrimp, and even pork chops!  Hug-Hes is located at 360 East 2600 North—next to Lee’s Marketplace.

December Employee of the Month is Detective Rusty Olsen, of the North Ogden Police Department.  He does an incredible job, and was instrumental in solving a rash of recent property crimes in our City. His hard work helped North Ogden to again be recognized as one of Utah’s safest cities--this time specifically for low burglaries.

Detective Olsen is a genuinely good person who quietly does a great job. He has been serving our City for 18 years.  We appreciate all his dedication and hard work!
