UNITED UTAH PARTY CANDIDATES CALL FOR GREG HUGHES TO RESIGN FROM INLAND PORT BOARD
UUP candidates pledge to propose law to prevent future self-appointments
Seven United Utah Party candidates for the state legislature - Michele Weeks (HD 54), Stephen Walston (HD 41), Mark Russell (HD 49), Eric Chase (HD 61), Hillary Stirling (HD 57), Alex Castagno (SD 9), and Lee Houghton (SD 15) – have prepared a joint statement calling on Greg Hughes to resign from the board of Utah’s planned Inland Port. Hughes appointed himself the board as one of his final official acts as Utah’s Speaker of the House.
The statement reads as follows:
As candidates of the United Utah Party, we are committed to common-sense reform to restore the public’s faith in the integrity our state government. That faith was severely undermined by Utah House Speaker Greg Hughes’s self-appointment to the board of Utah’s Inland Port.
Beyond that self-appointment issue, Speaker Hughes now is declining to submit a conflict of interest form required by law because he claims that the law on conflict of interest regarding board members is ambiguous. He also admits that, as a real estate developer, he may have a conflict of interest.
Speaker Hughes never should have appointed himself to the position. The fact that he did so and now admits he might have a conflict of interest makes us suspicious about his motivation for appointing himself. The law is not ambiguous on this matter. He never should have appointed himself and, if he has a potential conflict of interest, he does not belong on the board.
Therefore, we call on Speaker Hughes to resign from the Inland Port Authority board immediately.
To prevent this from happening again, as members of the state legislature, we promise to introduce legislation to prevent future self-appointments.
In the meantime, Speaker Hughes has a moral duty to resign his position on the Inland Port Board and allow the rest of the board to choose a suitable replacement. This is the only course of action that can begin to repair the damage done by this egregious violation of the public trust.

Sen. Lee Urges Quick Action to End Family Separations at Border
WASHINGTON – Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) urged the United States Senate to do their job and take quick action on Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) Protect Parents and Kids Act, which would end the separation of children from their parents when families are caught crossing the border illegally.
“Securing our nation’s border is among the federal government’s top priorities,” Sen. Lee said, “but we should also never lose sight of the values that make us Americans. The Protect Parents and Kids Act will end the separation of children from their parents while also improving the tools law enforcement agencies need to secure the border and adjudicate asylum claims. It is vitally important that the Senate swiftly pass this legislation which will bring great relief to thousands of people on our southern border."

Hemp, Inc. Applauds Senate Agriculture Committee for Passing Farm Bill with Hemp Legalization
SPRING HOPE, NC, June 20, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hemp, Inc. (OTC PINK: HEMP), a global leader in the industrial hemp industry with the largest multipurpose industrial hemp processing facility in the western hemisphere, announced today the company applauds the Senate Agriculture Committee for passing last Wednesday the 2018 farm bill in a 20-1 vote. The farm bill includes hemp legalization that is backed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
According to McConnell, hemp farming in Kentucky can help replace some of the revenue from falling tobacco demand, reported CNBC.
"I know there are farming communities all over the country who are interested in this," said McConnell, according to CNBC. "Mine are particularly interested in it, and the reason for that is — as all of you know — our No. 1 cash crop used to be something that's really not good for you: tobacco. And that has declined significantly, as it should, given the public health concerns.”
Officially known as the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018, the draft farm bill contains more than 1,000 pages and covers everything from farm subsidies and food stamps to trade and rural development policy. Farmer assistance includes commodity payment programs, as well as subsidized crop insurance.
Hemp, Inc. announced its support in April for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s introduction of a bill to remove industrial hemp from the federal government’s schedule of controlled substances.
“Hemp legalization is drawing support from both sides of the political aisle as legislators learn more about how hemp can provide much needed revenue streams to farmers across the country,” said Hemp, Inc. CEO Bruce Perlowin. “We are encouraged by this version of the farm bill that would protect crop insurance, providing much-needed certainty for farmers.”
Notably, there are now 40 states in the nation that have legalized hemp. Companies seeking to enter or further develop their footprint in the industrial hemp marketplace are aligning with Hemp, Inc. for the company’s proven expertise and state-of-the-art hemp processing and manufacturing infrastructure in Spring Hope, North Carolina. Hemp, Inc.’s 85,000 square foot hemp processing and manufacturing facility has been operational since August 2017.
Hemp, Inc.’s consulting agreement with HQ Global Education, Inc. (OTC:HQGE), a scientific research development company, entails that Hemp, Inc. will provide consulting services in an effort to help HQ Global Education, Inc. expand into the hemp CBD industry. In addition, Hemp, Inc. also announced that the company encourages large scale companies to secure their hemp biomass now before Hemp, Inc.’s supply runs out.
Hemp, Inc. also recently announced that its strategic hemp growing partner Veteran Village Kins Community Arizona, Inc., had completed installation of the solar and wind-powered energy system for its 500-acre Veteran Village Kins Community in Golden Valley, Arizona. The Veteran Village Kins Community is designed to grow hemp and produce CBD products to benefit veterans as well as generate revenue for Hemp, Inc., the Veteran Village, and individual veterans living in the community.
Dozens of master growers, from Oregon, Colorado, California, Kentucky, North Carolina, Nevada and, of course, Arizona, companies and organizations have expressed an interest in pursuing a joint venture with Hemp, Inc. to each grow industrial hemp on the 300 fenced acres in Arizona as part of "The Great United American Hemp Project." Interested master growers, from around the country, should contact Project Manager, Dwight Jory at ecogold22@gmail.com.
Read the following October 24, 2017 press release, Hemp, Inc. Announces Strategic Hemp Growing Partner "Veteran Village Kins Community Arizona, Inc." Completes Final Site Plan Blueprints, below:
Hemp, Inc. has announced that its strategic growing partner, "Veteran Village Kins Community Arizona, Inc.," has completed its final site plan blueprints for its 500-acre site in Golden Valley, Arizona (20 miles north of Kingman, AZ and 90 minutes from Las Vegas, NV). The site plan was submitted to the Mohave County Building Department for final review. The Company is also in the final stages of completing the necessary infrastructure to support an off-grid, renewable, energy system. With the solar equipment in place, the site's solar power operation is now complete.
Dwight Jory, the Project Manager for the "Veteran Village Kins Community Arizona, Inc.," said, "We are very happy with the progress. Our Kins Community is really beginning to come together." In anticipation of planting to begin during the spring, 300 acres have been fenced, 16 overnight trailer park sites are under construction, and six 40x40-ft organic vegetable gardens are ready for seasonal planting, according to Jory. As for the 6 geodesic domes mentioned in an earlier press release, 1 is structurally complete with only the electrical and plumbing to be completed. The rest are on site awaiting final site plan approval. "We are now accepting volunteers who have expressed an interest in helping to build the first Kins Community for our veterans," said Jory. Those interested in making the first hemp growing CBD-producing "Veteran Village Kins Community" become a reality should contact Ms. Sandra Williams via email (swilliams@hempinc.com).
One thousand trees, on 36 of the 500-acres, have also been planted, with an additional 1,000 trees on order. The "Veteran Village Kins Community" site plan also includes a 100,000-square foot GMP compliant, central processing plant, CBD testing laboratory, and various health and wellness centers to support veterans who may have psychological, emotional or health issues.
"As Hemp, Inc. positions itself on the forefront of America's industrial hemp revolution, we see our partnership with 'Veteran Village Kins Community Arizona, Inc.' being paramount in supporting the small family farm movement that we are confident will reshape the American landscape," said Perlowin. "As we work toward getting our eco-village up and running in Arizona, we are also aggressively scouting strategic locations in other states including North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia. Giving veterans and other Americans a place to learn new skills and take part in this multi-billion-dollar hemp CBD market is very exciting. It's a big part of our mission to give back."
According to Perlowin, seven "master hemp growers" from Oregon, Colorado, California, Kentucky, North Carolina, Nevada and, of course, Arizona have expressed an interest in pursuing a joint venture with Hemp, Inc. to each grow industrial hemp on the 300 fenced acres in Arizona. Perlowin says he'll call this "The Great United American Hemp Project."
