Voting for the Municipal General Election will be held by mail this year. If you have not received your ballots in the mail already, they should be coming soon as they were mailed out October 15th. If you are not sure if you are registered at your current location, go to https://vote.utah.gov/. You can check your registration, register if you are not, or change your registration. A ballot drop box will be located in the City Office, at the County Clerk's Office or drop it in the mail. It must be postmarked by November 5th to be counted. A sample of what the ballot will look like is listed below. If you have an questions you can call the City Office at 435-723-6461. There are three seats to be filled for City Council. Council Members Toby Wright and Nathan Tueller will be on the ballot and we have three write in candidates as well, Blake Ostler, Boyd Montgomery and Brandon Hansen.
The City Council has approved a change regarding charges on late payments for utility billing.
In addition, if your water is shut off, there will be a $50.00 fee applied to get your water turned back on.
THREE MILE CREEK GUN RANGE Three Mile Creek Shooting Sports Complex will be closed September 30th for the season. Check Perry City’s website for the opening date in the Spring. BURN PERMITS Open burn will be in effect until October 31. You will need to obtain a burn permit to do so. USU COMMUNITY EDUCATION Utah State University’s Fall session of Community Education begins Oct 9 -Nov 21. Call 435-919-1200 now, to register, classes fill quickly. Topics include Basic Photography, Cake Decorating, Yoga, Drones, Intro to Cooking, or Excel, as well as improving Writing and Understanding Math or Medicare. TREES AND SHRUBS While doing your fall clean up, please be mindful of your trees or shrubs that may need to be trimmed back if they are growing out into or over the sidewalk and blocking the right of way. This also applies if you have weeds overgrowing the sidewalks and obstructing the path or making it difficult to walk freely on the sidewalks. It is the homeowners responsibility to keep the sidewalks free from obstructions as referenced in Perry City Municipal Code 10.17.020. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS • Cross the street at corners, using the traffic signals and crosswalks.
• Look left, right and left again when crossing and keep looking as you cross.
• Put electronic devices down and keep heads up and walk, don’t run, across the street.
• Teach children to make eye contact with drivers before crossing in front of them.
• Always walk on sidewalks or paths. If there are no sidewalks, walk facing traffic as far to the left as possible.
Children should walk on direct routes with the fewest street crossings.
• Watch for cars that are turning or backing up. Teach children to never dart out into the street or cross between parked cars.
• Children under the age of 12 should not be alone at night without adult supervision. If kids are mature enough to be out without supervision, they should stick to familiar areas that are well lit and trick or treat in groups.
• Slow down and be alert!!!
