FIRE & FIREWORK RESTRICTIONS It didn’t take long for all that green grass to turn brown! Wildfire season is already in full swing with a number of them burning across the state. The City Council passed a Special Ordinance to put fire and fireworks restrictions in place for everything East of Highway 89 until September 15, 2019. You can see the full ordinance on the City website or it is also available at the City Office. Legal fireworks, in allowed areas, can be used from the period 2 days before to 2 days after the 4th and 24th of July.   Thank You!!

Thanks Marjorie and Terry Ross and all the other great volunteers for their hard work for another great 4th of July Celebration. Let’s not forget our Fire Department and the Fireman’s Dinner and Dance and AWESOME fireworks display.  Thank you to all the local hometown talent for a great Patriotic Program that included a wonderful tribute to Helen Jane Lemon. Glen and Sue Anderson and crew for a yummy breakfast.  It was a great celebration - THANK YOU ALL!!!!! 

DOMINION ENERGY GASLINE You have probably noticed the installation of the gas line down the middle of Hwy 89 is moving slowly towards Willard and have arrived to the outskirts of town. The orange barrels are on top of Hargas Hill over the weekend. Please slow down through the construction area, watch out for stopped cars, construction vehicles and construction workers. WATER TANK PROJECT The new water tank project is underway. Due to the nature of the project we ask residents to be prepared for temporary water shutoffs that may affect parts or all of the City. Keep water available just in case!

ATV’s and OHV’s ATV’s and OHV’s are becoming more and more popular. The headlines are now filled with accidents forever changing families’ lives. There have been complaints of ATV and OHV operators not following basic laws. Here are some of the basic laws. 

 Basic OHV Laws and Rules:

• Wear Your Helmet:  For riders and passengers under age 18, it’s the law, but we advise everyone to wear a helmet. It can save your life. Properly worn, a helmet won’t reduce vision or hearing and helps cut out windblast.
• Gloves, abrasion resistant clothing, and over the ankle boots are also highly recommended
• Youth, 8-15 years of age, must possess an OHV education certificate before operating an OHV on public land
•  Ride On Utah! – Ride only on designated routes and areas open to OHVs  Ride on the right side of the road and in single file
•  Be alert to oncoming traffic, especially on blind curves or in dips and crests of hills
• It is illegal to drive an OHV while under the influence of alcohol or drugs
•  A red or orange “whip flag” must be attached to OHVs when riding in sand dune areas
•  Lights must be used between sunset and sunrise
• Be sure your brakes will control and stop your OHV
• Mufflers with an approved spark arrestor are required on all OHVs (snowmobiles do not require spark arrestors)
