Sheehan Focused on Results at Road America
Elkhart Lake, WI - August 20, 2019 - August is traditionally a busy time for Trans Am drivers and teams and this year is no exception, with Round 9 of the 2019 Trans Am Championship presented by Pirelli TA2 Class set for Road America, located in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, this weekend of August 24. Another huge field of 28 cars are scheduled to compete in a race dubbed the Ryan Companies Muscle Car Challenge powered by AEM, and after finishing in P9 at Mid-Ohio just two weeks ago, Tom Sheehan and Damon Racing are looking for another top ten finish - or better - this time around.
The No. 97 LTK Insulation Technologies Ford Mustang driven by New Hampshire based Sheehan is prepared by the seasoned TA2 team of Damon Racing on the Mike Cope platform. After switching to running a Ford Mustang from a Chevrolet Camaro for the 2019 season, the team really have been knocking on the door at the top of the pack and know full well that only sheer speed and consistency will get them to where they want to be.
Tom reflected the team's ambitions when he stated, "The team is focused on unloading a fast car at Road America.” With work going on behind the scenes in advance of this weekend he added, "We failed to return to the speed we had at Detroit and Indy in our last outing at Mid Ohio. We went back to the shop in Bow and had a chance to debrief the car and our information."
The very high standards he sets for himself and the team were self evident when he added, "Mid-Ohio was a pretty weak performance. I am the one with the wheel in my hand. Time to dig in. I will take care of our stuff and we look ahead for results."
Nicknamed "America's National Park of Speed" Road America is situated on 640 acres of Wisconsin's Kettle Moraine, near the Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive. It has hosted races since September of 1955 and currently hosts over 400 events a year.
Road America is one of only a handful of road circuits in the world maintaining its original configuration being 4.048 miles in length with 14 turns. The track features many elevation changes, along with a long front stretch where top speeds can be reached. One of the best known features of this course is a turn on the backside of the speedway known as "the kink."
The TA2 Drivers get their first taste of the asphalt at the event titled the Ryan Companies Road America Classic Weekend bright and early with first testing at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 22. Qualifying is at 4:10 p.m. on Friday afternoon with the feature race itself also scheduled for a breakfast time start at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24.

Dear Tammi,
Lots of people who find themselves in your shoes make the switch to low-interest rate credit cards. A lower interest rate will help you save a little money in the short-term, but the drawback is it can also make you feel like you’ve addressed your problem with debt when you really haven’t. You’ve got to change the behavior and the mindset that put you in that situation in the first place. Besides, most low-interest, or no-interest, credit card offers are only good for a short period of time. There’s always a catch!
I discovered long ago that personal finance is only about 20 percent head knowledge and 80 percent behavior. Emotion is a key element to getting out of debt and staying out of debt. You’ve got to get really mad at debt, the impact it has on your financial life, and attack it with a vengeance. Think about how many times debt has been a negative influence on your life. My guess is there were many occasions in the past when you could have done great stuff—I’m talking about meaningful, important things—if you hadn’t had to send a bunch of money to those bozos at the credit card company every month. I want you to really think about it.
How about this? First, cut up your credit card and close the account. Then, sell some stuff and take a part-time job nights or weekends for just a little while. You could wipe out all your debt in less than a year by doing that and starting to live on a strict, written, monthly budget.
If you don’t get mad about it and take a stand against debt, and become determined you’re never going to fall into that trap again, you’re liable to find yourself back in the same situation or worse!

USDA Announces Investments in Community Facilities that will Benefit Almost 200,000 Rural Americans

WASHINGTON, Aug. 21, 2019 – USDA Rural Housing Service Administrator Bruce Lammers today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing $52 million in 45 community facilities projects that will benefit nearly 200,000 rural residents (PDF, 151 KB) in 16 states.
“Under the leadership of President Trump and Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue, USDA is committed to partnering with rural communities to build the facilities that provide state-of-the-art services to those who depend on them,” Lammers said. “Rural areas thrive when modern and accessible education, health care, public safety and municipal services are available. This provides a foundation for growth and prosperity.”
USDA is making the investments and has additional funding available through the Community Facilities Direct Loan Program. Interested parties should contact their USDA Rural Development state office for application and eligibility details.
The 45 projects that USDA announced today are in Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin. For example:
More than 100 types of projects are eligible for funding under USDA’s Community Facilities program. Eligible applicants include municipalities, public bodies, nonprofit organizations and federally recognized Native American tribes. Projects must be in rural areas with a population of 20,000 or less.
USDA will make additional funding announcements in coming weeks. Congress appropriated $2.8 billion for Community Facilities direct loans and grants in fiscal year 2019.
USDA Rural Development provides loans and grants to help expand economic opportunities and create jobs in rural areas. This assistance supports infrastructure improvements; business development; housing; community facilities such as schools, public safety and health care; and high-speed internet access in rural areas. In April 2017, President Donald J. Trump established the Interagency Task Force on Agriculture and Rural Prosperity to identify legislative, regulatory and policy changes that could promote agriculture and prosperity in rural communities. In January 2018, Secretary Perdue presented the Task Force’s findings to President Trump. These findings included 31 recommendations to align the federal government with state, local and tribal governments to take advantage of opportunities that exist in rural America. Increasing investments in rural infrastructure is a cornerstone recommendation of the task force.
