When it was announced that the highly anticipated Robert Mueller Report was completed and it was first sent to Attorney General William Barr for review, and not Congress, a chill went up my spine as it did most Americans. I suspected the new show had just begun.
First of all, Barr was appointed to the AG position by Donald Trump because Barr has been highly critical of the Mueller investigation and has written extensively about how, in his opinion and interpretation of the Constitution, a sitting president can not be indicted. Wow! In the sports gambling world I think they’d call Barr a “Ringer” for Team Trump. Barr was preceded by Acting AG Matthew Whitaker, another dubious character and Trump shield from justice, when former AG Jeff Sessions honorably and correctly recused himself from the position regarding Trump’s treacherous shenanigans surrounding the firing of former FBI Director, James Comey, and regarding the ongoing, and still ongoing, question of Russian collusion. The interpretation of “collusion” seems to be the legal sticking point.
(Collusion: Secret or illegal cooperation or conspiracy, especially in order to cheat or deceive others.)
If all this high drama is starting to look like a daytime soap opera or political scandal mini-series, and it’s getting tedious and difficult to follow, then you are playing right into the small grubby hands and deceiving minds of Donald Trump and company. You are supposed to be confused and mollified into submission, and conclude that there was “no collusion” with the Russians or any “obstruction of justice” on the part of President Trump. Oddly but conveniently, these were the exact findings of Attorney General Barr.
(Obstruction: A thing that impedes or prevents passage or progress; an obstacle or blockage.)
Barr supposedly received the Mueller Report first and it has of yet not been shown to anyone else, not the President, not Congress. At least that’s their story and they’re sticking to it. I don’t believe it for one minute. As soon as Barr received the report his first call was to the White House on demand from Trump. In my opinion, their “conspired” plan was to have Barr issue a preliminary findings summary report which would cast a favorable light on Trump any way it could be gleaned from the wording in Mueller’s report. So, in a matter of just hours, Barr issued a four page letter based on over two years of Mueller’s work suggesting that there was “no collusion” and “no obstruction of justice”. Those were the headlines fed to Congress and the American public by Barr through our flight of fancy media. Trump announced to the world that he was “totally exonerated” by the Mueller Report ...end of story.
Woah! Wouldn’t Barr’s personal interpretation of Mueller’s report fed to us in a four page summary letter without congressional or journalistic review of the actual wording of the report be interpreted as “obstruction of justice” right there? Couldn’t the June 16th meeting in Trump Tower with Don Jr., Kushner, Manafort (already convicted and imprisoned), Russian spies and a cast of shady characters be interpreted as “collusion” right there? Trump Tower Moscow, Trump’s Miss Universe Pageant in Moscow, the infamous Russian prostitute and “Pee Tape” Steele Dossier allegation ...couldn’t those all be considered the stuff of which “collusion” is made?
Some dim bulb political pundit on CNN said that the Trump lawyers should be congratulated for their great job defending and protecting the President and “exonerating” him. Right, and while we’re at it, let’s all give a shout-out to O.J.’s lawyers as well. Good Job! The President’s lawyers are real good at finding loopholes to exonerate. Let’s find some lawyers with integrity that are good at finding loopholes to indict. I mean, what’s more important, setting up a labyrinth of barriers to block the truth, or uncovering the real story.
It’s simply the right thing to do.
So, Really? Exonerated? Absolved? ...of everything? ...the hate speak, the misogyny, the racial slurs, the ultra-adultery, the filthy language, the abhorrent model for American youth, his shady, failed business dealings, his lying, his misrepresentation of America to the world, his foreign policies, clean air policies, his narcissistic personality, his arrogance, entitlement and attitude ...his hair?! Absolved of all of those?
Really? ...no collusion, no obstruction of justice? I haven’t read the Mueller report, most likely nobody will, but I have a television set, I’ve worked with Trump, I know people who have, and I’ve watched his career over the years, and respectfully, I see both collusion and obstruction of justice.
The GOP, Mitch McConnell & Lindsey Graham et al, are already blocking the Democrat’s efforts to make the Mueller Report public. So, of course there are bad things in there they don’t want the American public to see. Incriminating, indictable things. Mueller’s words, even as interpreted by AG Barr, are that his report does “NOT exonerate” Trump.
Where is our justice system? Where are our leaders? Where is their conscience?
As the smoke begins to clear in this post Mueller Report first round, Trump is running victory laps accusing his detractors of “treason” and “evil” doing. As if that isn’t insulting enough, the smug Trump chump children are reveling in their exonerated malfeasance. Ivanka is actually quoting Abraham Lincoln and comparing her father to Lincoln. I mean, can it get any more irresponsibly unjust?
Someone, anyone, please step up to the plate and correct this out-of-balance miscarriage of justice and revolting degradation of our American sense of identity and heritage. The President’s lawyer, Rudi Giuliani, once said that “Truth isn’t truth” and that double talk is the foundation on which the Trump administration seems to be based.
This is screamingly wrong, and someone better start screamingly identify and sell the truth. The media, the Democrats, the GOP, our politicians, administrators, political appointees and protectors ...We the People, all need to step up to the plate and do the right thing. Or else, we’ll soon see Ivanka’s image replace Lincoln on the five dollar bill with Jared on the penny, Don Jr. on a ten spot replacing Hamilton and guess who “Trumping” Benjamin Franklin on the hundred?
I don’t know about you, but this sends chills up my spine.
I’m still (barely) willing to give President Trump the benefit of the doubt, even as lecherous a rapscallion as he may be. Let the American public see the whole, unedited, uninterpreted by Team Trump, Mueller Report.
Then let the chips fall where they may.
