Stuff the Bus: School Supplies Needed!
Salt Lake City — Every year at the end of summer, most kids go back-to-school shopping for all the folders, pens, pencils, binders and glue sticks they could ever want. Unfortunately, some students don’t have this luxury. United Way of Salt Lake is encouraging the community to “Stuff the Bus” and donate school supplies to help 8,500 children get the tools they need to learn.
Supplies will be collected now through August 31, then stuffed into backpacks and delivered to United Way Community Schools and Neighborhood Centers serving low-income children and families in the community. Hundreds of volunteers will stuff supplies into backpacks and deliver them on September 10, 2015 during the organization’s 23rd annual Day of Caring event.
WHAT: Donate school supplies to benefit low-income students in community school neighborhoods
WHEN: Now through August 31, 2015
HOW: Visit uw.org/stb to sign up to hold your own drive with family, friends or coworkers! Encourage those you love to help you support kids going to back to school by coming together to collect donations. If you don’t have time to head up your own drive, donate to the United Way of Salt Lake through uw.org/stb and we’ll purchase the supplies for you.
VOLUNTEER: Join United Way of Salt Lake and hundreds of volunteers stuff the school supplies into back packs and make deliveries on September 10 during the annual Day of Caring event.
