OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION
BOX ELDER COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT
A reception for Retirees was held at 6 p.m. at Box Elder Middle School. At 6:30 p.m. retiring employees were recognized and congratulated by the Board.
Official minutes of a Regular Meeting of the Board of Education, Box Elder County School District, held Wednesday evening May 9, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at Box Elder Middle School.
Those in attendance at the meeting included Board President Wade Hyde, Members Nancy Kennedy, Lynn Capener, Connie Archibald, Bryan Smith, Julie Taylor and Chayse Quayle, Student Board Member. Also present were Superintendent Steven Carlsen, Assistant Superintendents Keri Greener and Terry Jackson, Business Administrator Rod Cook, officers of the Box Elder Education Association, district employees, representatives of the press and interested citizens.
President Hyde welcomed those in attendance and conducted the business of the meeting. After the prayer, which was offered by Connie Archibald, Lynn Capener led the audience in the pledge of allegiance.
Approval of Agenda
Connie Archibald made the motion to approve the agenda. Lynn Capener seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

There were no patrons signed up for public comment.

Business Administrator, Rod Cook presented the monthly financial report to the Board.
Silicone Slope of Utah
Rebecca Dilg, Box Elder County Economic Development, shared with the board the economic development initiative called Silicone Slopes to promote, encourage, and support the technology industry.

Second Reading
Policy 5050 Immunization Requirement
Connie Archibald made the motion to approve policy 5050 upon second reading. Bryan Smith seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

Book Review
The Board reviewed Chapter 1 of the book 'Appreciation' with each board member expressing what impressed them about the chapter.
Consent Calendar
Nancy Kennedy moved to accept the consent items. Bryan Smith seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
