New book invites young readers to enter ‘The Upside Down World of Stacey McGill’
Linda Burns promotes the use of imagination as a tool to bring happiness and joy into one's life
PERRY, Utah – Her role as a mother, grandmother and educator give author Linda Burns the opportunity to experience and see the world of many young people. She observed that those who are going through bullying, rudeness and unhappy home situations need a little joy in their lives. With this desire to bring happiness to those who need it most, she decided to pen “The Upside Down World of Stacey McGill” (published by AuthorHouse).
In this picture book, young readers are invited to immerse in peaceful moments and fanciful delight as they follow the adventures of Stacey McGill. Stacey leaves sadness, bullying and rudeness behind as she uses her imagination to visit an upside down world where everything is opposite of her sad life. In there, she encounters hugs, smiles, fun and kindness.
“The Upside Down World of Stacey McGill” combines fanciful rhyming and illustrations to allow readers to imagine how smiles, kindness and caring about each other brings happiness. The book can also be enjoyed upside down and right side up, which encourages them to use their imagination and enter a world where all good things are possible.
“Today, we are suffering in a world where many people are unkind, disrespectful, and downright mean,” the author reflects, “Stacey McGill stands as a representative for all those who are suffering these maladies. I believe we need the kindness, smiles and overall happiness shown in this ‘Upside Down World.’”

About the Author
As a teacher, mother of four, grandmother of 17 and great-grandmother of 14, Linda Burns has a great deal of experience working with children and seeing their world. Teaching students in third through sixth grades gave her the opportunity to help children use their imaginations in developing creativity. Students were allowed to use their various talents in the completion of assignments, such as art, music, writing, or oral presentation. She observed how this practice encouraged those who were struggling with a lack of self-confidence or the thought that they did not fit in to develop a more positive outlook in life. She received an outstanding teacher award from the school district for her efforts. Having seen the value of using imagination to affect positive change, Burns used the lyrics and music to transport her learners to a place where kindness reigned even if just for a few moments. As a result of her concern and love for children, she has written and published children’s songs, short stories and poetry designed to bring laughter and joy into their lives. She continues this practice today. Because of her love for Dr. Seuss books, some of her writing reflects that influence. Growing up, the author’s parents instilled in her the ability to use her imagination. She considers it to be the motivating factor in her writing; bringing joy and creativity into her life and into the lives of others.

"The iconic Warped Tour punkers radiate with nothing but girl power." -Alternative Press
July 26, 2019 - Los Angeles, CA - Punk rock artist and women's empowerment activist, Shiragirl, has released her new concept EP, Andi Underground. Stream here: https://spoti.fi/32VhRh5. Co-written with Tim Armstrong (Rancid, Transplants, Pink) and mixed by Cameron Webb (Motorhead, Sum 41, Kelly Clarkson), Andi Underground is a dystopian punk rock musical described as Black Mirror meets The Runaways. "Within the six songs on Andi Underground lies an entire extravagant, unruly musical punk rock musical", Kerrang! recently said of the album. "[The EP] will suck you into its infectious revolution." For more information on Shiragirl, please visit: https://shiragirl.com/.
The Andi Underground EP proves that Shiragirl is much more than just a Warped Tour icon. Drawing inspiration from the infamous story of Alice, the EP takes place in a dark future world, where no one can leave their house without putting on their mandatory, government-controlled "filter" glasses. "One night, Tim and I were brainstorming ideas for a concept record," Shiragirl elaborates. "Together we organically built the storyline around a girl who wanted to run away from an apocalyptic digital dystopia to an underground world, and the narrative just slowly grew from there."
Shiragirl is the "punk rock Madonna" who forever changed the Vans Warped Tour. As the story goes, a determined Shira Yevin showed up to the 2004 tour in her iconic pink RV, created her own stage and performed atop it with her band. After receiving a rousing crowd response, Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman invited Shira to return the following summer to host an official Shiragirl Stage. The stage went on to host over 200 female-fronted bands, many making their Warped debuts, including Paramore on their first ever tour, and the legendary Joan Jett.
With the Shiragirl Stage, Shira broke into the boys club, accomplished her mission to inspire and empower women and made punk rock history. In addition to having her story featured in the book 'Misfit Summer Camp: 20 Years On The Road With The Vans Warped Tour', Shira earned an MTV Warpie Award and a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Forever Warped exhibit. She also went on to rock support slots with Rancid, NOFX and Juliette Lewis, shot a music video for her single "RESIST" at the 2017 Women's March and released her critically acclaimed EP Brooklyn Goes Hollywood last year, which received attention from Billboard, Alternative Press and HelloGiggles among others.

Wolves At The Gate is a post hardcore band out of Columbus, Ohio. Since 2008, the band's reputation has been built on a foundation of lyrical authenticity and sonic evolution-both easily identifiable in their fourth studio release, Eclipse.
Inspired by the natural phenomenon and its ability to mask light, cast shadows and cause chaos, Eclipse is a multifaceted record telling one major story in a myriad of ways: don't let what's real be hidden by darkness. Where one song feels fast and youthful, the next feels melancholic and foreboding; an apt illustration of the sporadic nature of the human mind. The record is also the band's most lyrically-diverse collection of songs yet, as they express their thoughts on the United States' relationship with racism, radicalism and prejudice in the song "History", the political and religious landscape in "Evil Are The Kings" and "Counterfeit", and more.
Vocalist/guitarist Stephen Cobucci says of the album:
We named the record 'Eclipse' because of how well it encapsulated the relationship the light and the dark can have. An eclipse tells you that it's dark, but it takes truth and faith to know that the sun is still shining. All of this revolves around my walk of faith in believing the truths of the gospel message, seeking to help others find hope and peace in the love of God, as well as how to come to grips with various social/political/personal issues.
Alongside Cobucci is Ben Summers (bass), Abishai Collingsworth (drums), Nick Detty (vocals), and the band's newest member Joey Alarcon (who co-produced alongside Cobucci).
