March 28, 2018 - Los Angeles, CA - Emo Nite LA has constantly challenged the idea of what a modern-day music event can be. Additionally, they have continued to push themselves further into the fashion world with creative merchandise and clothing collaborations partnered with diverse and respected names in the industry. Emo Nite LA is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of a special tee-shirt collaboration with Rose in Good Faith. "The oversized tee is a nod to emo scenes over the decades with a perfect blend of 90s fit and finish, but with 2000s inspired graphics. Really a contemporary take on the motif" shares Akiva Alpert (ROSE IN GOOD FAITH.)

Inspired by post-hardcore and emo culture, LA-based ROSE IN GOOD FAITH channels elements of millennial nostalgia, fused with bold color ways, and a contemporary flare for the dramatic; launched in 2016 by designers Akiva Alpert and David Teitelbaum. On the collaboration, they share "Rose In Good Faith could think of no other team than Emo Nite to collaborate with. Emo Nite is king at crafting an emotional experience around contemporary nostalgia and like Rose In Good Faith, they are on the pulse of the cultural landscape." For more information on Rose in Good Faith, please head to http://www.roseingoodfaith.com/.

Sutherland to hold education panel: Innovations for Students with Special Needs

SALT LAKE CITY — Today Sutherland Institute announced an upcoming event, “Innovations for Students with Special Needs.” The panel, to be held Wednesday evening, March 28, is the final of four in a series hosted by Sutherland Institute addressing a range of education topics. As seating is limited, preregistration is encouraged.

Panelists (details found below) will include the president of Gigi’s Playhouse (a Down syndrome achievement center), a therapeutic recreational specialist at the National Ability Center, the current president of the Utah Autism Academy, a tutor at the Dyslexia Center of Utah, and the director of the Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities & Business Relations. These individuals are willing to share personal stories, successes and challenges in working with students who have special education needs. Members of the public are encouraged to share this event on Facebook

An event program can be downloaded here.

From Sutherland Education Policy Director Christine Cooke (panel moderator):
“The community and state-based programs highlighted in this panel have the potential to significantly improve education for students with special needs at a time when we’re realizing that we just aren’t doing enough for these kids yet,” Cooke said. “We need to make as many educational options available to these students as we can – both public and private options.

“If just one parent or policymaker finds a solution or comes up with an idea after attending this panel, it’s a win.”

EVENT DETAILS

*This event is open to the public and the media*

WHEN: Wednesday, March 28, 7-8 p.m.

WHERE: Utah State Capitol, Centennial Conference Room (just inside the north entrance of the Capitol), 350 State St., Salt Lake City, Utah 84111

PANELISTS:

  • Brittanie Flint is the founder and president of GiGi’s Playhouse Layton, a Down syndrome achievement center. An entrepreneur from an early age, she also owns Flippers Gymnastics and Cheer and Flippers Tumble Bug Preschool, and she is an IEP advocate. She is a single mom of five children – her fourth child is a darling little boy, Linkon, who happens to have Down syndrome. She works closely with schools and families with children who have special needs from all over the Western United States as their advocate through IEP meetings. Her mission is to provide all families and children with special needs all the opportunities they need and deserve.
  • Leah Lobato is the director of the Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities and Business Relations with the Utah State Office of Rehabilitation. She promotes the employment and retention of individuals with disabilities in competitive employment by promoting public and private partnerships and efforts. She has a BS from the University of Utah and is a certified public manager. She is on the board of Utah’s Chapter of Job Placement and Development and is a member of the National Rehabilitation Association, Utah Rehabilitation Association, Utah Diversity Connections and the Utah Business Leadership Network.
  • Liz Longhurst is a licensed therapeutic recreation specialist (TRS) who brings her bachelor’s in therapeutic recreation and a master’s in adaptive physical education to the National Ability Center in Park City, as well as teaching certificates in state and nationally accredited programs. Liz worked as a physical education teacher in neurotypical and neuro-diverse classes for pre-K through 12th grade. Liz supports individuals with different abilities, ages 16 and up, as they prepare to lead a life of independence, all with a wide range of skills and goals. She manages and cultivates the development of a team to lead the Camps and Community Programs that run year-round at the National Ability Center.
  • Tricia Nelson is the president and executive director of Utah Autism Academy (a day-treatment program for individuals with ASD) and the mother of four children, including Riley (a 16-year-old young man on the severe end of the autism spectrum). Tricia has participated in advocacy, awareness, fundraising and family services efforts in the autism community nationwide since her son’s diagnosis over 13 years ago. Tricia finds joy in the successful inclusion in the community of ALL individuals with ASD and the reception of the community to the value that they bring.
  • Christine S. Hansen is a reading tutor at the Dyslexia Center of Utah. She holds a BA from Brigham Young University. Having spent time teaching in various classrooms from the LDS Missionary Training Center to preschools, and volunteering with and working in the public school system, she was thrilled to find the Dyslexia Center of Utah in 2015. Finally understanding why certain students didn’t thrive even when intelligence, opportunity and supportive adults were available and present was freeing as an educator. Armed with new skills, tools and training, she loves helping children use all their senses to discover the world of words and regain confidence in their abilities and intelligence. Christine and her husband have raised their five children in Cedar Hills, Utah, and are now relishing their new role as grandparents.

JW President Tom Fitton Op/Ed: Sexism didn’t defeat Hillary Clinton -- Wild untruths about emails are why she's not Madam President

Source: Fox News

There's a new book out by Hillary Clinton's former communications director, Jennifer Palmieri, suggesting that sexism by American voters – not Clinton's email scandal – was the key factor responsible for Clinton’s loss to Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election. Given Clinton’s recent comments that Trump voters were backwards and women voters were manipulated by men, it is no surprise to see a Clinton adviser attacking American voters rather than suggesting that voters fairly evaluated Clinton based upon her conduct.
