Humane Society of Utah and Petco Foundation Team Up to
Recruit Lifesaving Foster Families at Petco
WHAT: This Saturday, the Humane Society of Utah (HSU) and the Petco Foundation are inviting the public to learn more about the lifesaving impact of fostering animals during the Be A Foster event.
HSU volunteers and staff will be on-site at the Draper Petco to:
WHEN: Saturday, June 30, 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
WHO: Humane Society of Utah foster volunteers and staff will be available for photos and interviews.
WHERE: Petco Animal Supplies
,
1165 Wilmington Ave, Salt Lake City, UT 84106
WHY: The summer months are a busy time for animal welfare organizations. There is often an increase in animal intake and demand for services. Many of these animals are simply in need of a place to stay while they await a new home. Providing them care in a temporary foster home can help save their lives.
“We couldn’t save as many lives as we do without foster volunteers,” said Deann Shepherd, HSU representative. “Foster volunteers help us with provide a safe home where ill or injured animals can recover, baby animals can receive the extra care they need to grow, and shy pets who get overwhelmed in a shelter can stay until they find a home of their own.”
“Fostering can be a fun, educational activity for families and individuals,” said Petco Foundation president Susanne Kogut. “It can teach children responsibility, while providing the lifesaving care animals need.”

Since 1999, the Petco Foundation, has invested more than $200 million in lifesaving animal welfare organizations in communities across the country.

HSU is the largest open-admission private animal shelter in the state, and welcomes any companion animal that can legally be admitted. As a member of the No-Kill Utah (NKUT) Coalition, the HSU works hard to ensure that every healthy and treatable pet that enters the facility will be placed into a loving home. (BBB Northern Nevada) to become Better Business Bureau Serving Northern Nevada and Utah, Inc., effective June 30, 2018. The boards of both organizations met and approved the consolidation earlier this year. Jane Driggs, who formerly oversaw BBB Utah, continues as president and CEO of the combined operation. Outreach activities include providing numerous opportunities for businesses throughout the larger service area to learn more about self-regulation and how to protect their business and educate their employees on numerous subjects, including advertising concerns, cybersecurity threats, financial scams and other issues facing today’s marketplace. Outreach services will also be increased to allow BBB to provide speakers to business and consumer groups. The Utah office, headed by Driggs, will continue to manage current services, including dispute resolution, BBB Scam Tracker, advertising and charity review, investigations, and BBB AUTO LINE®. BBB Utah has always had a strong local presence and has won awards FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU® MERGER through the Council of BBBs (the BBB’s umbrella organization) for operations work. “With this consolidation, BBB will be able to provide more services to the public (consumers and businesses) than before. The continued increase in scams and fraud makes BBB even more important today than when established more than 100 years ago!” said Driggs. The new organization, Better Business Bureau Serving Northern Nevada and Utah, Inc., will have its headquarters in Salt Lake City and an office in the Reno area. # # # For more than 100 years, the Better Business Bureau has been helping people find businesses, brands, and charities they can trust.
