The Weber County Library System has done an excellent job serving Weber County residence by providing a free summer reading program. The “Laugh It Up” summer reading program encourages kids to read through the summer by providing a fun and hands on learning experience. Weber County Library is following the standards set by the American Library Association’s program, “Every Child Ready to Read,” a parent/caregiver education initiative stressing early literacy and focusing on; reading, writing, singing, playing and talking.
Parents can register their children for the summer reading program by visiting your local Weber County Library or online at http://www.weberpl.lib.ut.us/childrens-summer-reading. The summer reading program comes with a program guide, calendar of events and a reading log to track personal progress. The kids earn prizes for every fifteen days of reading at home. The program guide comes with a suggested list of reading and picture books along with a family activity guide that promotes learning, education and family fun.
