(WASHINGTON, D.C., April 4, 2019) – The United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) will release the 2017 Census of Agriculture results on Thursday, April 11, at noon ET. The full Census report will include millions of data points, including number of farms, land in farms, total value of production, demographics, and more at the national, state, and county levels.

The report, along with a number of related publications, video presentations, and searchable data query interfaces, will be available on the NASS website at www.nass.usda.gov. Available now in preparation for data release are three videos featuring NASS subject matter experts explaining the importance of the Census, what’s new in this Census, and how to find Census data.

“We are excited to share the new Census of Agriculture data next week,” said U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue. “The Census data will help inform decisions about ag education, research, farm programs, rural development, and much more over the next several years. Conducting the Census is part of USDA’s commitment to you.”

This Census report will include new information on military service, food marketing practices, and on-farm decision-making. These additions help better capture the roles and contributions of beginning farmers, women farmers, and others involved in running a farm enterprise. Data from this census as well as previous ones are easily searchable on the new online Census Data Query Tool. To address questions about the 2017 Census of Agriculture data, NASS will host a live Twitter (@usda_nass) Ask the Census Experts Stat Chat on Friday, April 12, at 1:00pm ET.

At the same time that the 2017 Census of Agriculture data is released for the 50 states, NASS is collecting Census data in the U.S. territories of Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands. The agency is also in the last few weeks of data collection for two Census of Agriculture Special Studies - the 2018 Census of Aquaculture and the 2018 Irrigation and Water Management Survey. These and other products, such as state, county, and congressional district profiles, will be released throughout the year.

The first Census of Agriculture was conducted in 1840 in conjunction with the decennial Census. After 1920, it was conducted every four to five years. By 1982, it was regularly conducted once every five years as it still is today, mailed to every known farm and ranch in the United States.

NASS is the federal statistical agency responsible for producing official data about U.S. agriculture and is committed to providing timely, accurate and useful statistics in service to U.S. agriculture.

APRIL 4, 2019 - METRO DETROIT, MI - Mike Mains & The Branches are streaming their new album, When We Were In Love, exclusively today via Billboard. Listen HERE. "The buoyant pop of When We Were In Love -- recorded in Harrisburg, Pa., with Nathan Horst -- follows Mains' favorite credos from Tom Waits ("I love beautiful melodies telling me terrible things") and Leonard Cohen ("There's a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in"), Billboard notes. Prior to the album, the band released a series of acclaimed singles including "Endless Summer," "Breathing Underwater," "Live Forever" and "Around The Corner." The album will be available for purchase/streaming everywhere tomorrow, 4/5, via Tooth & Nail Records. In support, the band is currently on a spring tour, which will wrap up on 4/19 in up in Ferndale, MI. See below for a full list of dates. Mike Mains & The Branches first entered the national music scene with the release of their debut album Home in 2012. While touring the album, and growing a loyal following opening shows for Relient K and Hellogoodbye, founding members Mike and Shannon fell in love, married and in doing so, minted the focal experience of the band's subsequent music and lyrics; not just love, but the swirling highs and bruising challenges of life together.

The band began writing their second album, aptly titled Calm Down, Everything Is Fine, which they crowdfunded without the support of a record label, in 2013. As the album progressed, the band spent time with Matt Hoopes of Relient K, who produced the finished album, and Zac Farro of Paramore, who played drums. Following its release in 2014, Calm Down, Everything Is Fine hit the top 20 ranks on Billboard's New Artist Albums Chart.

Five years later, Mike Mains & The Branches are back with When We Were in Love-their most intimate album to date. Much of the record is an extremely personal account of the heartache experienced during a marital rough patch and the journey to rebuild said relationship. The recording process was a therapeutic one for Mike, who was advised by his therapist to write songs as a way to work through his pain: "I finally felt brave enough to explore that pain, and a lot of this record feels like someone eavesdropping on my counseling sessions."

When We Were In Love, the new album from Mike Mains & The Branches, is due out tomorrow, 4/5, via Tooth & Nail Records.

Thornhill

Share New Single

 "Coven"

Australian Headline Tour Kicks Off This Month

Melbourne, AUS - April 4, 2019 - Melbourne outfit Thornhill have released their new single "Coven" - an unrelenting blast of metalcore teeming with emotion. Their first output since their Butterfly EP in February 2018, "Coven" marks a mature return for the five-piece. Fans can listen to the track here: https://unfd.lnk.to/Coven

"'Coven' is about identifying anxiety and realizing how much control it can have over your life," explains lead vocalist Jacob Charlton. "We tend to feed anxiety with fear and I think this song is about my constant battle with it before playing a show, releasing new music or meeting new people. I think it'll be a reminder every time we play it live that it's all in my head."

After an unlikely start in high school, Thornhill quickly went on to land supporting roles with legends of modern heavy music including Northlane, Architects, Parkway Drive, In Hearts Wake, Make Them Suffer, Polaris and The Plot In You.

"Our new music is definitely a progression from Butterfly," explains guitarist Ethan McCann. "There are some songs that are a refined take on our current sound accompanied by an array of new genres/instruments as we never want to get too comfortable in one place. I think we left ourselves fairly open to exploring some different avenues while not straying away from previous releases."

Throughout the writing and recording process of their new material, Thornhill reveled in the opportunity to explore their musicianship, and purposefully took influence from a wide variety of genres.

"All of us listen to a wide range of bands and genres and enjoy playing different music as well," McCann adds. "I think a goal of ours for the future is to never fully be locked into one genre, throw the odd 'oh I didn't expect this' kind of track in the mix sometimes. To me personally it's more entertaining because you hear a band's ability and taste progressing over their career which I really enjoy."

Thornhill is Jacob Charlton (vocals), Ethan McCann (guitar), Matt Van Duppen (guitar), Nick Sjogren (bass) and Ben Maida (drums).
