Beets & Beats as Farmers Market Ogden Kick Off

Pop Up Artist Studio and Competition for Farmers Market Ogden Design to Include Live Music, Poetry & Activities

June 5th – Ogden, Utah. After having so much fun last year, Ogden Downtown Alliance (ODA) has decided to put together another Beets & Beats event! With Farmers Market Ogden right around the corner, Beets & Beats is a great kick off for all the excitement Summer Saturdays bring!

On June 5th, we'll be hosting an artist "paint-off." A selection of artists will be painting their rendition of the Farmers Market Ogden beet logo on 4'x4' canvas sheeting. These canvas sheets will become a part of a larger mural structure which will be displayed throughout the Farmers Market summer season - June 23rd to September 15th.

This is the second year Ogden Downtown Alliance (ODA) has hosted the Beets & Beats event as a platform for community gathering and art appreciation. This year the event will double as the Farmers Market Ogden vendor packet pick up, which gives community members an opportunity to mingle with our estimated 200 vendors!

There will be six mural artists, live music by Caleb & The Canvas, a Farmers Market themed poetry slam with PoetFlow, a youth paintball art project and food for purchase from Thai Curry Kitchen.

Join us at the northeast corner of 26th & Lincoln to watch the artists in action, enjoy a night on the town complete with live music (the beats to go with the beets). PLUS, you'll get to vote for your favorite artist. The winning artist will receive a cash prize from the Ogden Downtown Alliance.

“Last year I had a blast participating in the beets & beats event” says last year’s community choice winner for art, Josh Smith,“It was a fun challenge to get a semi decent piece done in that small amount of time.” Smith mentioned he even got to meet some artists in person that he had been following on social media and has since been part of quite a few events together. “The diversity of artists that participated was impressive. It was cool to take a step back and check out all of the different takes, and styles of art,” Smith shares.

This project is funded by Ogden City Arts and Weber County RAMP.
