With 2018 upon us, I’m writing to suggest a story idea for Weber Sentinel News on a survey that reveals almost every single student has resolved to kick it into high gear in January.

Consider this:

>> 86% of students plan to be more studious in 2018.

To conduct the Magoosh New Years Studying Survey, the researchers at Magoosh [www.magoosh.com]—an online solution that gives everyone access to enjoyable, affordable, and quality test prep—asked 2,000 American high school students just how studious they really were last year.

*** MAGOOSH NEW YEARS STUDYING SURVEY ***
(survey of 2,000 Americans)

>> ONLY 15% OF STUDENTS WERE SATISFIED WITH LAST YEAR'S ACADEMICS

Almost 9 in 10 say they'll be more studious this year. 35% plan to accomplish their goal by kicking ACT/SAT studying into high gear, while another 35% will cut their social media use (or will they?).

>> HALF OF STUDENTS ALREADY STUDY 3+ HOURS PER NIGHT

While 47% of students say they study 1-3 hours, 38% study 3-5, and 14% already study more than 5!

>> 68% OF STUDENTS SAY THEY'RE PROCRASTINATORS

And they'll do anything to procrastinate: 20% procrastinate by making more study guides, while 17% stare at blank walls.

>> STUDENTS' TOP 5 WAYS TO PROCRASTINATE

#1: Social media (42%)

#2: Watching TV (38%)

#3: Hanging out with friends (27%

#4:Reading books (26%)

#5: Spending time with family (23%)
