Jeffrey D. Scott was appointed as a new Box Elder County Commissioner to replace Commissioner Adams, who left to take a position with the State Department of Agriculture.  A special election was held at the Republican convention on the January 25, 2014.  The County officials were contacted regarding the problems they are facing, and Mr. Scott said he thought of potential solutions that could help them and the people of Box Elder County.

Scott says this is his first elected position, although he has served with the Chamber of Commerce and the County Committee for Emergency Communication.  He has also served at the city level on the Brigham City Business Relations Task Force, and the Community Improvement Grant Committee.  He says that Brigham City has acted on 100% of the committee’s recommendations.

Mr. Scott is a family man; he is married with 4 children.  Mr. Scott says he grew up in Fielding, and attended Bear River High.  His wife is from Brigham City.  They met at USU, where he graduated.  His business is financial advising.  He says he focuses on small business, and helping those nearing retirement. When asked if he was religious he said “yes.” He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He said regarding his political philosophy that he considers himself fiscal conservative; and somewhat of a federalist like Representative Rob Bishop.  He says he likes Rep. Bishop’s ideas on Federalism. He says that he is filing to continue serving on the commission for a 4-year term which will be part of the elections this year.
