Dear BEHS FFA & Summer Ag Students; 

 

 Summer Ag is an opportunity for you to receive school credit & practical experience doing something you love! Please come and speak with an Ag Teacher before the end of the year or we will be available in our classrooms June 4-6 to give you special instructions.

Summer Credit All students that are enrolled in an Ag science and technology course, during the 2016-2017 school years can receive 0.25 credits towards their graduation if they meet one of the following requirements: 1. Raise livestock animal for the county fair or similar show and keep records on livestock project.  Record books will be due the first week of school. 2. Work a minimum of 90 hours in an agriculture-related job and keep records on that experience. 3. Attend at least three (3) field trips during the summer and complete the appropriate records for an Exploratory/Improvement Supervised Agricultural Experience Program 4.  Have an agriculture-related entrepreneurship project for which you will work a minimum of 90 hours, and/or have a minimum net income of $200.00 during the summer, and keep accurate records on that project.

Field Trips: We have several field trips as well as activities planned for the summer.   All students enrolled in the summer agriculture program are invited to attend.   The activities as well as the field trips will count towards summer credit.  The activities are as follows:  *Note: if coming on any tours you must wear  long pants and NO open toed shoes.*        Monday June 18th: 1st Summer Ag Tour: USU Aviation & USU Teach Ag ASTE Meet at 7:30 AM at the Ag Dept. 

 

Tuesday July 17th: 2nd Summer Ag Tour: Deseret Pasta & OP Tanks, JD Machine; Meet at 8:00 AM at the Ag Dept. 

 

Tuesday August 14th:  3rd Summer Ag Tour: Newswander Honeybees & Black Canyon Trout Farm.  Preston, ID Meet at 7:30 AM at the Ag Dept.

Hog Tagging 

 

Hogs will be tagged for the Box Elder County Fair at the Fairgrounds on  Thursday- June 7th - Hog Tagging 7-8:30 AM Saturday- June 16th - Hog Tagging 7-8:30 AM

The FFA Advisors will do on-site weighing of pigs. We will schedule 3 weigh dates throughout the summer to help keep your pigs weights in check.  Your pigs must weigh between 225 & 290 lbs. come fair time. 

 

Lambs will be tagged for the county fair at the following times only: Thursday- June 7 - Lamb Tagging 4-6:30 PM  Saturday- June 16 9:30-12 PM 

 

Goat tagging
