Dear Friends,
Five women dedicated to publishing cutting-edge literature in support of our natural world run and staff the independent nonprofit Torrey House Press. And we love getting good books— thought-provoking, conversation-sparking books with cool covers— into readers' hands. However, book revenue covers only half the cost of running a small press— donors like you make our work possible. Join us on Kickstarter and support the publication of two timely books examining issues of environmental justice through a profoundly personal lens: Confluence by Zak Podmore and Shaped by Snow by Ayja Bounous.
While Torrey House books are regional in many important ways— Shaped by Snow, for instance, takes readers up and down the slopes of Utah's Wasatch mountains— they explore facets of this planet that affect us all. From environmental and social justice issues like water use and immigration to personal experiences like the death of a parent and the decision whether or not to have children in the face of climate change, the stories you're helping us bring to the page are timely, relatable, and relevant— coast to coast.
As an independent, not-for-profit publishing company, Torrey House Press brings you stories you won’t find anywhere else, from voices you wouldn’t hear otherwise. We publish the books that bigger, for-profit publishers on the East Coast won’t take a chance on, because we know that telling stories about our natural world is a powerful and necessary way to protect it. Join us in bringing these stories to the page.

We have only 4 days left to reach our all-or-nothing goal, and every donation makes a difference. By supporting mission-driven non-profit publishing, you're bringing new books into the world that might not otherwise be published. Shaped by Snow and Confluence are timely books exploring some of the biggest environmental concerns in the West, and you can help bring them to the page.
For wild words & wild places,
The Torrey House Team

Utah homeowners could be set up for a huge windfall thanks to rising sales prices, according to a study released just this week that ranks the state second in the nation for its jump in home prices.
RefiGuide.org, a leading online mortgage marketplace, compared home sale data across the country to determine which markets were in the best (and worst) shape. RefiGuide’s study determined that Utah ranked second (just behind Idaho) when it comes to average sales price increase over the past year. Utah’s 14% put our state behind No. 1 Idaho (17.2%) but well ahead of third-place Nevada (10.9%).
This study comes on the heels of other recent research that has shown non-coastal areas like Utah are becoming heavily favored destinations for Millennials looking for more affordable housing. In fact, Utah’s median home price is expected to rise by another 8.5% by spring 2020.
You can read the full study, which includes state-level analysis as well as a look at which American cities have the healthiest housing markets, by clicking here, but check out a few of the key points.
Check out the full report here, and just ask if you have any questions about the data or the research:
