OGDEN CITY - Collaborative support of House Bill 126 key during Utah 2018 Legislative Session
OGDEN, UT – Ogden City is supportive of the collaborative efforts between the Department of Corrections, Representative Jeremy Peterson, and other stakeholders during this year’s General Legislative Session to pass H.B.126.
The bill, which is sponsored by Representative Jeremy Peterson, creates a process and formula for determining the release of offenders to community correctional centers. The philosophy behind the bill lays a foundation of best practices for the state in effectively supporting offenders when released back into the community.
Ogden City recognizes the Department of Corrections as an essential partner working with the local law enforcement community in tracking and apprehending probation and parole violators in the community. Their assistance in investigations is valued by Ogden City as we work together as a team to improve public safety.
“Ogden City is grateful of efforts of the Department of Corrections and their willingness to collaborate with community stakeholders,” said Ogden City CAO Mark Johnson. “This bill is vital in creating a viable process to reintegrate offenders into the community. We appreciate the great effort expended by Representative Peterson to address this important issue for our community and the State at large.”
