DROWN THIS CITY

Celebrate Release of

Alpha // Survivor

Reveal New Music Video
 "In Your Image"

Alpha // Survivor Out Now via  UNFD

Streaming on Spotify & Apple Music

Melbourne, AUS - July 8, 2019 - There's been a buzz of energy around Melbourne post-hardcore act Drown This City since the announcement of their EP Alpha // Survivor. A fierce six-track package of pain and triumph, the release was quickly announced as Feature Album on heavy music radio juggernauts The Faction, climbed to #1 on the Unearthed Metal chart and was swiftly added to rotation.

With the release out in full now, the band are celebrating with the reveal of a music video for lead single "In Your Image." The track details lead vocalist Alex Reade's struggles being tied to expectation and agendas throughout her childhood and the video is teeming with striking imagery that points to this. Reade thrashes around in chains while figures twist and contort around her, but ultimately, 'In Your Image' captures her staggering shift from a broken victim into a powerful, unapologetic hero.

"The song really is about the breaking point in anyone's life when they have a moment of power and they shed false beliefs," she explains. "It's a paradigm shift into a new perspective - an ascension into one's true self and power."

Alpha // Survivor is the result of over a year's worth of refocusing, reenergising and rebuilding for Drown This City, both as individuals and as a group. The EP captures pain and turmoil, but ultimately harnesses a powerful message on the choice we all have to rise above our pain in power.

"We've been through heart ache, break downs, low moments and the highest of highs and together have only gotten stronger," Reade explains. "We've supported each other to be powerful as well as vulnerable, and through this connection we've come out of dark times and rebuilt Drown This City, ready to be released in its new form."

"As a concept, Alpha // Survivor represents the battle between one's emotions, how we can feel like an empty, emotionless void, but at the same time display absolute strength and power in the toughest of times. It's the idea of conquering one's inhibitions in the face of adversity."

Dear Dave,

I’ve never hidden debt from my husband, but I do hide money from him on occasion. I don’t hide it for my personal use, but I have been setting money aside for emergencies without his knowledge. He’s not terrible with money, and he works very hard, but he always seems to find something to spend it on. We were never able to save much of anything before I started doing this, but recently I’ve begun to feel bad about doing it. Can you give me some advice?

Penny

Dear Penny,

I’m glad you seem to be re-thinking this strategy. I believe in saving up for emergencies and having an emergency fund of three to six months of expenses in place. But deception in any form is never a positive thing in a relationship—especially a marriage.

I know it won’t be easy, but you have to let him know what you’ve been doing. You also need to make sure you tell him in the right way. Even though your intentions may have been good—getting into better financial shape— you’ve deceived him by doing it the way you did.

Make some time for just the two of you. Sit down with him, and let him know what has happened and that you’re sorry for not being completely honest about it all. Explain that the reason you hid the money was that you didn’t want to speak up about how it was being handled in your marriage. Ask him to forgive you, and let him know you won’t do it again, but explain, too, how important it is that the two of you work together on saving more, spending less, and getting control of your finances.

Managing money in a marriage is a “we” thing. Decisions should always be made—here’s that word again—together. It means you each have a vote, and it also means you should stand up and vote “no” if he wants to spend money on something silly when you don’t have your financial house in order!

—Dave

During the past 6,000 years, large earthquakes have occurred on the Wasatch fault on the average of once every 400 years, somewhere between Brigham City and Levan. Proportionality, Utah's corporate tax laws are just as messed up as Amazon paying no taxes. When Utah finally started collecting sales tax on Amazon--and other internet sales companies--the legislature and governor took the new $70 million dollars a year in revenue. Instead of giving the windfall cash to our school kids--the elected majority doled the money out to a few politically connected manufacturers, web portals (whatever they are) and mining companies. The $70 million Utah tax dollars a year are given out in Utah corporate welfare to a few ‘chosen’ in perpetuity

Championship Leader Roger Eagleton Heads North to Portland Trans Am

Portland, OR - July 9, 2019 - Round 4 of the 2019 West Coast GT Championship Trans Am presented by Pirelli gets underway the weekend of July 26 - 28 at Portland International Raceway in Oregon where the pacesetting Championship leader Roger Eagleton will be looking to extend his advantage at a track where he’s tasted success under SCCA rules before.

It was only last May in the Hoosier Super Tour that Roger won at Portland en route to winning the Western Conference Championship in the T2 class. This year Roger has stepped up to Trans Am GT class racing, and after notching pole position and then winning the opening round of the West Coast Championship at Thunderhill Raceway Park. He followed up at Laguna Seca with a pole and podium second, a finishing position he replicated in difficult circumstances at Sonoma last month. Another strong performance from Roger could see the Waikiki, Oahu based pilot wrap up the title in the Pacific Northwest on the upcoming July 28 weekend.

Roger leads the West Coast GT class with 94 points making him the favorite to claim the Championship crown. Speaking to our reporter this week ahead of the Portland showdown, Roger was quick to pay tribute to the team behind the No. 98 Five Star Property Management / Energy Real Estate Ford Mustang that has brought him so much success this season when he said, “The DIG Motorsports team and I have had a great summer break and are ready to get back down to the business of racing in the Trans Am West Coast championship at Portland International Raceway!"

Never one to stand still where development of the car is concerned, he added, “We have made some updates to the car and hope to have a little more top speed so that we can bring a good fight to the faster cars in our class. What exactly we did I cannot tell you, so I guess you’ll just have to follow along on social media (including links below) to find out what happens!”

The action at Portland gets underway on Friday, July 26 with two sessions of testing, the first at 11:15 a.m. and the second at 3:35 p.m. The grid will form up for the all-important qualifying session at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, with the race itself starting at 10:40 a.m. on Sunday morning.

The road course at Portland is almost perfectly flat and runs clockwise. At the end of 2007 and the beginning of 2008, PIR went through a track renovation. The track was repaved with new asphalt and some minor changes were made to the track layout. Turns 4-7 were widened. The fence on the inside of turn 6 was moved to provide a better sightline through the corner. Turn 7 was sharpened to slow down racers prior to entering the back straight. Formula One style curbs were also installed on the track. The track reopened on February 23, 2008 and is now one of the most popular tracks on the West Coast.
