Dear KidsOutAndAbout readers:

It costs nothing to camp in your living room.
It costs nothing to give a compliment.
It costs nothing to hold the door for someone.
It costs nothing to play dress-up.
It costs nothing to talk to the cashier.
It costs nothing to put a love note in your 7-year-old's lunch box.
It costs nothing to post Happy Birthday on a friend's Facebook page.
It costs nothing to fold the napkins fancy.
It costs nothing to straighten a messy room.
It costs nothing to cut the bread in triangles.
It costs nothing to play the alphabet sign game in the car.
It costs nothing to put music on during dinner.
It costs nothing to tell the speaker which of her insights you most appreciated.
It costs nothing to pick up the trash someone dropped on your neighbor's lawn.
It costs nothing to point out how cool it is that he just helped his brother.

It costs nothing to adopt the attitude that whenever you can, you'll make the world a little nicer. Five seconds of focus, a tiny bit of effort, and, whammo, look at the value you've just created.
