SCAM ALERT!!!! A resident reported receiving a call from the Water Department informing them their payment was 15 days past due. They were instructed to call an 800 number to pay over the phone and given a website where they could pay with a credit card. Willard City does not currently offer payment by credit or debit card or take over the phone payments! PLEASE BE AWARE THIS IS A SCAM.
Residents are reporting phone calls from the IRS, credit card companies and many others. Many even have some information about the person they are calling. Do NOT give personal information over the phone to an unsolicited call. Also be aware of emails that appear to be from credit card companies, banks, email providers, etc. asking for updated information or even confirming changes to your account and asking you to click on a link. They are most likely scams.
Slow the flow and do not water between 10 am and 6 pm. PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR DOGS!! Also, watch out for wasps. City staff has tried to keep up with wasps around playground equipment and public areas. Please be aware when you are in these areas.
There has been yet another stolen vehicle, this time on the west side of town. PLEASE DO NOT leave your keys in the car or your vehicles unlocked. Two of the previous stolen vehicles have been recovered. Please report any suspicious activity in your neighborhood as soon as you notice it! The Police Department continues to get reports of items stolen out of yards and vehicles. Put items away. Lock garages, storage sheds and lock your vehicles. Don’t leave purses, bags, electronics, coins, personal information in your vehicle and if you do, don’t leave them in plain view. Report suspicious activity when you see it!
