Ogden City recruiting volunteers for Make-A-Difference Day May 8
Ogden City is now recruiting volunteers for the 6th annual “Make-A-Difference Day” on May 8, which will be the beginning of a several months-long community effort to clean and beautify the entire city.
“Everyone is invited to participate and may select projects of their choice to contribute to the community,” said project coordinator Stacey Olsen. “We are encouraging participants to look for projects in their neighborhoods that will improve the appearance of streets, yards, parks and other community areas. We can help provide support such as dumpsters, mulch, garbage bags and additional volunteers who interested in helping out.”
Volunteers are encouraged to contact Olsen with their own project or sign up for existing projects. Projects can be anything from picking up garbage to painting benches, pavilions, repairing fences, removing graffiti, spreading mulch and cleaning flower beds.
“We will accommodate the groups and support them on the dates and times that work best for them,” said Olsen. “We want to encourage the entire community to take ownership in their surroundings and recruit their friends, neighbors, schools, church groups and social clubs to get involved and make this the most attended Make-A-Difference Day event yet!”
In conjunction with this event, a food drive will be held in partnership with the Ogden School District from April 8th to May 8th. Nonperishable food items will be accepted. If you would like to participate you can drop off food at any city building or your organization can sign up to become a drop off site.
