The United Citizens Task Force met on 25 January in West Haven to organize, meet a candidate for congress and discuss topics of interest.
At the grassroots meeting folks volunteered for several positions to help the group move forward with its goal of being a positive force in our local communities for constitutional values. In doing so the group will do research on political issues that affect our local area as well as on a state level in order to ensure our political leaders have enough information to make proper choices that don’t infringe on citizen’s rights. The UCTF will also attend local government meetings, be a voice in those meetings and provide information on topics to leaders and media to ensure both are well informed.
One main issue the group will focus on is the Agricultural arm of Utah state government forcing small business poultry farmers who have complied with federal standards to shut down for not complying with non-existent state laws. The UCTF has decided to do research into the matter and take action to bring this to the attention of state lawmakers to ensure small business poultry farmers are no longer harassed when complying with all federal and state standards that are on the books. Other topics of local interest were also discussed for future projects.
Craig Bowden and independent candidate for the 1st Congressional District seat currently held by Rob Bishop (R) was in attendance by invitation. Mr. Bowden met UCTF members and listened to concerns on this subject and others. Information about the candidate can be found at his website www.craig4congress.org.
One of the group’s members Cheryl Compton of Brigham talked about the importance of being servant leaders for our communities. She talked about the pattern of leadership established by the founding fathers of our country by studying their examples and seeking out good mentors.
