Get Ready for Spring

As warmer weather arrives, it’s time to find ways to get the most out of spring. The season is the time to get outside and get active. Many spring activities are economical or even free, so don’t be afraid to take advantage of seasonal pleasures.

Making an outdoor leisure area in your yard is simple and offers a relaxing area to enjoy the warmer weather. You can spread out an area of white rocks surrounded by bricks or a decorative plastic border fence that can be stuck right into the ground. You can even make a border of blueberry bushes that will also offer privacy as well as a healthy snack. A simple bench or yard swing can be placed in the center of the area for a nice place to sit, read, and relax. A picnic table can also be used, so you and your family can enjoy meals outside. A grill can also be set up in the leisure space, so you can enjoy outdoor cooking. Birdhouses and birdfeeders placed nearby can make the spot a wonderful place for you to enjoy wild birds. The ways to enjoy an outdoor area and incorporate nature are only limited by your imagination.

While relaxing is a great way to enjoy spring, it is also important to get active as well. Local parks are great places for you to get exercise and burn some calories. Most parks have trees, shrubs, and flowers that will be in bloom, so you can enjoy the natural beauty while you walk. Spring is also the best time to get a bicycle. Stores stock up on bikes, so you will have a great selection to choose from. Thrift stores and yard sales are good places to find bikes as well, and you can get them at a greatly reduced price. Bike riding is great exercise for people of all ages. If you need an exercise buddy, then don’t forget about dogs. These canine companions are fine walking partners. Local animal shelters always have well-behaved dogs that are ready for adoption. Spring is outdoor exercise time, so get out and take advantage of the great weather.

Naturally, nothing says spring more than fruit and vegetable planting, and nothing is more simple and enjoyable than tomatoes. You don’t need much space for tomatoes, and they can even be planted in large pots. The rewards for tomatoes are well worth the effort. You can’t beat a fresh cut tomato sandwich with mayonnaise and a little salt and pepper, or a thick slice of tomato on a grilled hamburger. And don’t forget about the autumn reward crops such as pumpkins and ornamental corn. Planting these American favorites in the spring will make sure you have beautiful decorations in the fall. Spring planting pays off later, and it’s also another way you can be outdoors and enjoy the spring warm up.

Spring is the time to get moving, so shake off the winter dust and get outside. The exercise and beauty you create will make it all worthwhile.
