HEMPLER FOODS GROUP RECALLS READY-TO-EAT PEPPERONI  STICKS

DUE TO MISBRANDING AND UNDECLARED ALLERGEN

 

WASHINGTON, May 18, 2018 – Hempler Foods Group, a Ferndale, Wash., establishment, is recalling approximately 8,535 pounds of ready-to-eat pepperoni sticks due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The products contain milk, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label. 

 

The ready-to-eat pepperoni stick products were produced from April 20 through May 2, 2018. The following products are subject to recall:

      

  • 4 count/case of 2.25-lbs. of “HEMPLER’S FAMILY CLASSIC PEPPERONI, NATURAL SMOKE FLAVORING ADDED” with “PACKED ON” date 04/21/18 and “LOT # 8106.”
  • 4 count/case of 2.25-lbs. of “HEMPLER’S FAMILY CLASSIC PEPPERONI, NATURAL SMOKE FLAVORING ADDED” with “PACKED ON” date 04/26/18 and “LOT # 8113.”
  • 4 count/case of 2.25-lbs. of “HEMPLER’S FAMILY CLASSIC PEPPERONI, NATURAL SMOKE FLAVORING ADDED” with “PACKED ON” date 05/01/18 and “LOT # 8117B.”
  • 4 count/case of 2.25-lbs. of “HEMPLER’S FAMILY CLASSIC PEPPERONI, NATURAL SMOKE FLAVORING ADDED” with “PACKED ON” date 05/02/18 and “LOT # 8117B.”
  • 10 count/case of 9-oz. of “HEMPLER’S FAMILY CLASSIC PEPPERONI, NATURAL SMOKE FLAVORING ADDED” with “USE OR FREEZE BY” date 01/15/19 and “LOT # 8106.”
  • 10 count/case of 9-oz. of “HEMPLER’S FAMILY CLASSIC PEPPERONI, NATURAL SMOKE FLAVORING ADDED” with “USE OR FREEZE BY” date 01/16/19 and “LOT # 8106.”
  • 10 count/case of 9-oz. of “HEMPLER’S FAMILY CLASSIC PEPPERONI, NATURAL SMOKE FLAVORING ADDED” with “USE OR FREEZE BY” date 01/22/19 and “LOT # 8113.”

 

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 6410” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to distribution centers in California, Oregon, Utah and Washington, and then further distributed to retail stores.

                             

The problem was discovered on May 17, 2018, when the firm received a customer complaint that a package of “Hempler’s Family Classic Pepperoni, Natural Smoke Flavor Added,” contained a different product identified as “Hempler’s Pepperoni with Jalapeno and Cheese, Natural Smoke Flavoring Added.”  The retail establishment notified the firm, who informed FSIS of the problem.

 

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.  

 

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

 

FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify that recalling firms are notifying their customers of the recall and that actions are being taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.

SPRING HOPE, NC, May 17, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --  Hemp, Inc.(OTC PINK: HEMP) announced today that one of its strategic growing partners, Veteran Village Kins Community Arizona, Inc., has completed installation of the solar and wind-powered energy system for its 500-acre Veteran Village Kins Community in Golden Valley, Arizona.  The Veteran Village Kins Community is designed to grow hemp and produce cannabidiol (CBD) products to benefit veterans as well as generate revenue for Hemp, Inc., the Veteran Village, and individual veterans living in the community.

Bruce Perlowin, CEO of Hemp, Inc. (OTC PINK: HEMP) said, “This has been an arduous journey for everyone involved, but it has been well worth it. This solar and wind-powered energy system will even allow for high-definition cameras to capture the remaining development of the Kins Community, in real time with live streaming video.  Every methodical step we have taken has put us closer to opening our doors to the country’s first Veteran Village Kins Community, just north of Kingman, Arizona (and only 90 minutes from Las Vegas).”

Perlowin continued, “The timing couldn’t be more perfect since Arizona has taken legislative action to embrace hemp as a viable, new, agricultural product for the state. Completion of the solar and wind-powered energy system follows recent news of Arizona Governor Doug Ducey’s signing of senate bill (SB) 1098 “providing funding for the Arizona Department of Agriculture’s (AZDA) agricultural pilot program allowing universities and those with a license from AZDA to begin cultivating industrial hemp”. SB 1098 states hemp grown in Arizona cannot contain more than .3 percent THC, which is the psychoactive element of marijuana.  The measure, according to Gov. Ducey, “could have a positive economic impact for the state as “this bill opens Arizona to the possibility of a new agricultural product.”

This 11-acre section, of the Veteran Village Kins Community, includes 6 Geodesic domes totaling over 6,000 square feet. One of the Geodesic domes will be a cafeteria with an attached kitchen and there will be bathroom facilities throughout.  RV parking also serves as temporary housing for Veterans and visitors.

The electrical system is an off-grid 480-volt 3-phase renewable energy system powered initially by 12 kilowatts of Solar Photovoltaic panels on top of an RV carport shade structure.  There are currently 33-kilowatt hours of battery storage utilizing the latest Lithium Iron Phosphate technology with a lifetime of 15 to 20 years. The Solar Photovoltaic system can be expanded up to 30 kilowatts and the batteries to 100-kilowatt hours or more using the current battery and solar integrated inverter.  Executives expect the system to initially electrify 6 domes with 40 to 60 amps of 240-volt power and up to 22 RV parking spots with 30 to 50 amps each, continuous.
  
A natural gas/propane backup generator will be added with automatic start electronics to supplement any shortfall in power that may be encountered during rainy days or heavy use. Wind generators will also be installed to supplement the solar power with day and night generation.

Once implemented, the rule would effectively ban Planned Parenthood and other abortion clinics from receiving federal funds through Title X.

3 Things To Consider About Your 401(k)

When Changing Jobs

 

More people change jobs than ever before. The average American worker makes 12 employment moves before retirement, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. 

With all those transitions come important decisions, and high among them is what to do with their 401(k).

Numerous financial experts say one thing you usually shouldn’t do is leave your 401(k) behind with your former employer. Some 401(k) accounts are “orphaned” or abandoned every year either by their owner, former employer or plan administrator.

“It’s like cleaning out your old office; make sure you grab everything that’s important to you,” says Peter J. Strauss (www.peterjstrauss.com), an attorney, captive insurance manager and author of The Business Owner’s Definitive Guide to Captive Insurance Companies.

“When you leave a job and leave your 401(k), failing to roll it into a new retirement account, it’s leaving money in a drawer, and worse, with compound interest growth.”

Because of the tax penalty for early withdrawal, it’s not usually a good idea to cash out your 401(k) before age 59½. But Strauss says the advantages of having a 401(k), keeping it mobile with job moves, and continuing to grow it are vital for personal financial growth and retirement. He lists three consider about your 401(k) when changing jobs:

 

  • The employer match. “That can be a great windfall, but it’s important to make sure the matching money is vested prior to your departure,” Strauss says. “Otherwise, if you didn’t work there long enough and the match hadn’t vested, you’re not maximizing your savings.” So when choosing to leave a company, Strauss says it’s important to consider the timing. “Find out if all your 401(k) contributions have vested, so you make sure you get a bigger bang for your buck,” he says. “It may be worthwhile to stick around a little longer to make sure you get the entire company match to take with you.”
  • Rolling it into an IRA. An IRA offers more investment choices than 401(k) plans do, Strauss says. And typically, IRAs have lower costs to operate because they don’t carry the administrative fees that 401(k) plans do. “But remember, just like rolling your 401(k) over into your new company, you need to execute the transfer properly, or else you will owe taxes and fees.”
  • Roll into your new company’s plan. This is the simplest option of moving your 401(k) after a job move. Your funds remain in the same place and continue to grow. A bonus: 401(k) plans allow you to borrow more than an IRA for a first home.

 

 

“It’s a sense of comfort having a 401(k), and better, having one that’s not stagnant,” says Strauss. “If you one day go from ‘employee to employer’ and run your own business, you’ll have a heightened appreciation for it because of what it means to your employees. If you’re making a job change, don’t forget the retirement assets you’ve worked so hard for throughout your career.”
