D

There is going to be a small change at the City offices regarding our garbage services. We will no longer have new garbage cans delivered here to the City offices. When you have a broken can or need a second can delivered to your home, you call the City offices and tell us what is wrong with your garbage can—for example a   broken wheel or lid. We then email Republic Services with your request, then Tuesday afternoon, they will come with your replacements or new cans. Republic Services is trying to keep track a little more on what is causing the increase on can replacements. Requests that the City offices get between Monday thru Friday will be delivered the following Tuesday after garbage is picked up.

NATIONAL NIGHT was on August 7 at the Perry City Park This is a nationwide crime, drug, and violence prevention program. There were several booths set up such as: Perry City police car, First Responder vehicle, military trucks, face painting, Air Care helicopter landing, and food trucks.

PRAYERS FOR ELLIE

Energetic, free-spirited, and full of potential are just a few attributes you would use to describe Elizabeth Renae Prewitt. Finding ways to make people smile and capturing an audience from the moment she steps into the room are how people remember this confident young lady. Elizabeth strives for perfection in athletics, art, and education. She is a track-star, an elite gymnast, and a three-time All European cheerleader. She was one of five high school students to have her art displayed at the Nelson Atkins Art museum and she wanted so much to further her education to become a children’s art therapist. On December 20, 2017, all her hopes, dreams, and aspirations were shattered when she was found lifeless in her apartment having been strangled. Paramedics were able to revive her, but she had already suffered massive injuries including a heart attack and anoxic brain injury from lack of oxygen. Because Ellie had only recently moved back to Missouri to finish high school among her friends and peers, the family was tasked with finding a way to get her back to Perry, Utah, where her father, MSgt. John Bartlow, is currently stationed at Hill Air Force Base. After months in the hospital and a long-term care facility, it was imperative that Ellie come home where she could begin the recovery process with the love and support of her family by her side. In an effort to do this, many modifications had to be made to the family home, and on May 11, 2018, the transition was made possible. Ellie continues to make progress at a slow and steady pace but remains in a minimally conscious state. Unfortunately, the family resources have been depleted leaving necessary modifications unfinished and other needs put on hold. Because of this, we are reaching out to our fellow community for support. Please visit ItIsAboutHer.com to learn how you can help and get updates about Ellie and her recovery.

CODE ENFORCEMENT

Perry City has passed a new code enforcement ordinance. This ordinance was passed in order to give Perry City the ability to enforce the ordinances without pressing criminal charges in order to do so. One of the most pressing issues of concern to our residents and that of our fire marshal due to the extreme dry weather is the issue of weeds. Section 304.1.2 Vegetation: of the international fire code states: weeds, grass, vines or other growth that is capable of being ignited and endangering property, shall be cut down and removed by the owner or occupant of the premises. Perry City is encouraging all residents to please work towards maintaining their property in order to keep the risk of fire to a minimum.

BOX ELDER COUNTY FAIR

Perry City will be participating in the Box Elder County Fair this year with a Community Booth. Councilman Andrew Watkins and Scott Nelson will be in charge of putting this together. The Fair dates run August 18 through 25. The Perry City Booth will be available to see on August 20th.
