Utah to Host CSG West 71st Annual Meeting
Highlighting the Utah way to develop innovative solutions to complex issues
Salt Lake City – Today, Utah will be hosting more than 400 state legislators, legislative staff, federal officials and other individuals from 13 western states, Canada and Mexico for the 71st Council of State Governments West (CSG West) Annual Meeting. With Utah State Senator Stuart Adams serving as the Chair of CSG West, the conference convenes September 11-15 at Snowbird, Utah.
“We are honored to host this non-partisan legislative conference for the first time in over 20 years,” said Senator Stuart Adams, chair of CSG West. “With its theme of ‘Elevating the West,’ this meeting is a perfect opportunity to showcase Utah’s innovative industries, majestic beauty and the collaborative spirit that embodies our great state.”
The Annual Meeting brings legislators and staff together to discuss challenging issues facing our states to find reasonable solutions. Lawmakers will assemble in policy committees, attend trainings and hear from insightful speakers and experts addressing topics of regional and national significance.
“I am pleased to welcome legislators from surrounding states to Utah where we can highlight the beehive state’s innovative ways that pioneer settlers passed down to us,” said Representative John Knotwell. “The meeting is an excellent opportunity to share ideas, find best practices, discover solutions on legislative issues and build relationships amongst each other.”
Senator Gene Davis added, “Utah is the crossroads of the west. We are looking forward to welcoming our fellow western legislators to share ideas and tackle the challenges we all share.”
Multiple off-site policy tours will highlight Utah’s various industries including tourism, sports and recreation; Hill Air Force Base; Huntsman Cancer Institute; and partnering to help refugees and those experiencing homelessness.
“Utah faces many of the same policy challenges as other Western states so CSG West gives legislators valuable opportunities to compare and collaborate on solutions,” said Representative Brian King. “At the same time, this also gives our state a chance to display Utah’s charitable and innovative spirit.”
The CSG West Utah Host State Committee includes Senator Stuart Adams (Chair), President Wayne Niederhauser and Speaker Greg Hughes; Senators Ralph Okerlund, Gene Davis and Kevin Van Tassell; Representatives John Knotwell, Brian King, Sandra Hollins and Brad Last.

The compilation album kicked off today with the release of the song and music video for Neck Deep's cover of "Torn" (originally made famous by Natalie Imbruglia). Speaking about why they chose to cover the song, Neck Deep lead singer Ben Barlow said, "This song is a classic for a lot people; it's actually one of my girlfriend's favorite songs ever, so we've listened to it a lot. It clicked that we could cover it one day when we were on tour, eating somewhere and it came on the radio. We started singing along and quickly realized this would make an awesome cover, once we'd ND'd it."
Working with the same team that produced the video for "Don't Wait," Ben continues, "We recorded the song with my brother Seb, and the video rolled round a little while later. Once again we teamed up with our buddies at OWIG and aimed to recreate the original video, but with a ND twist. It also features some cameos from some of our closest friends in the ND unit! It was a lot of fun being able to cover such a well-known song. Shooting the video was a breeze and as always the OWIG team nailed it."

Full Band Acoustic Tour This Fall

August 20, 2018 - Bayside has teamed up with Billboard to exclusively premiere the band's new acoustic track, "Sick Sick Sick." Fans can stream the song, alongside an exclusive interview with lead singer Anthony Raneri, here: http://bit.ly/2x6xkwF. "Sick Sick Sick," originally taken from Bayside's 5th studio album Killing Time, has been renewed for the band's forthcoming, Acoustic Volume 2. The record will be released on September 28th, 2018 via Hopeless Records, and features one brand new track, " It Don't Exist," in addition to ten re-imagined versions of songs from across the band's discography. Pre-orders are now available at baysidebayside.com.
To celebrate the release of Acoustic Volume 2, Bayside has invited fans to join them for their first ever full-band acoustic tour. With an entire set of completely reimagined songs, as well as special guest Golds, these shows promise to be an incredibly special and intimate evening. The two-part tour kicks off on November 24th in Chicago, and includes stops in Brooklyn, Atlanta, Orlando, Houston, Los Angeles, and more. Tickets and VIP packages can be purchased online at Bayside.Shofetti.com.
Bayside represent a lifestyle, a counterculture, and a deeply held conviction, diverse in thought and background but united by a shared desire for authentic expression. It's a spirit that permeates an impressive and storied discography, including Sirens and Condolences (2004), Bayside (2005), The Walking Wounded (2007, celebrated with a 10 Year Anniversary tour in 2017), Shudder (2008), Killing Time (2011), Cult (one of Kerrang!'s Top Albums of 2014), and Vacancy (2016).
With a spirit of deconstruction and re-imagination, Bayside returns refreshed and reinvigorated with Acoustic Volume 2. A blend of instantly recognizable fan-favorites and deep cuts, Bayside's latest release throws off convention in search of the distilled melodic essence and emotive power of their catalog. These aren't "stripped down" versions of Bayside songs so much as they are completely new discoveries, refashioned and broadened by possibility.
Unburdened by any expectations or preconceived notions, the band made the record quietly and at their own pace, steadily mining their past to build a new vision for the future. Musicianship and artistry is paramount, with a purposeful urgency throughout.
Acoustic Volume 2 was crafted in Franklin, Tennessee with Jon Howard, a musician and producer who has worked with Paramore, Dashboard Confessional, and New Found Glory. Howard is part of a hyper local community outside of Nashville that includes members of those bands, as well as Yellowcard, Saves The Day, Grammy winning producer Nick Raskulinecz, and Raneri, among others.
It was liberating for Raneri and longtime members Jack O'Shea (lead guitar), Nick Ghanbarian (bass), and Chris Guglielmo (drums) to tear down the walls, playing the songs any way they wanted, as though they had just been written for the first time.
In every note of the vibrant Acoustic Volume 2, a record that conjures the spirit of classic performances like Nirvana's MTV Unplugged or The Cure's most adventurous outings, Bayside serves up a confident reminder of their firmly established place in the rock music landscape. It's evident - from all of the lyrics tattooed on fans, the cover version and tributes that permeate YouTube, and the obsessive supporters worldwide - why Bayside continues to thrive on the strength of these very songs.
Bayside will release Acoustic Volume 2 on September 28th, 2018. It is now available for pre-order at: baysidebayside.com.
