High Profile Education Panel to Discuss Renewing Choice

SPONSORS:
Noble Education Initiative, Civic Point, and Trevecca University

PANEL:

  • Dan Boone, President, Trevecca University
  • Dr. Tony Bennett, Former Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction
  • Jeanne Allen, Founder & CEO, the Center for Education Reform
  • Mendell Grinter, Founder/Executive Director, Campaign for School Equity
  • Shaka Mitchell, Tennessee State Director, American Federation for Children

WHAT:

A world-class panel of speakers will challenge the status quo, stir the mind and heart, and discuss real-world opportunities to renew public school choice in Nashville, in Tennessee, and around the nation.

 WHEN:

Thursday, September 20, 2018; 5 p.m.

 WHERE:

Trevecca Nazarene University

Quick Lecture Hall  |  Waggoner Library

73 Lester Ave, Nashville, TN 37210

WHY:

A recent Tennessee survey of likely voters found 63 percent want more school choice, yet that is virtually unavailable in Tennessee. Although throughout the country, magnet schools are booming, high-quality charter schools are delivering measurable positive results in every state, big education networks are pushing back against choice. Government entities prefer to shift the risk of failing schools increasingly onto students and their families.  Education choice is severely limited in many areas so new voices must emerge to reclaim the mantle of education reform and renew the call for student options.
