October 19, 2018 - St. Louis, MO - Alternative trio Greek Fire are thrilled to share a brand new cover of Cyndi Lauper's hit single "True Colors." The uplifting and piano-driven take on this classic anthem can be heard now, alongside an exclusive interview, on Substream Magazine.

The track will be featured on Greek Fire's forthcoming album BROKEN, which is due out on February 14, 2019. Fans can pre-order BROKEN, as well as receive an instant grat download of "Just A Little Is Enough," now on PledgeMusic: pledgemusic.com/projects/greek-fire-broken

BROKEN is the follow up to the band's latest record, ORIENTATION, which Greek Fire surprise-released last month. ORIENTATION features lead single "The Ride," and was recently featured on Loudwire: bit.ly/2NkHOm4.

From the din of sweaty rock clubs to the grandeur of blockbuster films, Greek Fire's ethos and ambition transcend boundaries.

Over the years, the St. Louis-based trio (formed in 2008 by singer/guitarist Philip "Moon" Sneed [formerly of Story of the Year], bassist Mark Joseph Roth, and drummer Johnny Venus) have built a reputation for delivering visceral, cinematic rock bursting with soaring melodies and even higher hopes - along with a mesmerizing live show that's made Greek Fire a worldwide must-see act.

"When we started, Greek Fire was my heart and my soul; it was my baby," explains Moon, who also plays guitar for ska-punk legends Goldfinger. "I wanted to do uplifting, spiritual-rooted things. It was a place I could really use as an artistic outlet for all the things that didn't make sense with what I was doing in Story of the Year. Since then, Greek Fire has evolved into the sum of the education of all the other projects I've been a part of."

On ORIENTATION, Greek Fire's first collection of new music since 2014's LOSTEP, the band's stadium-sized aspirations enjoy a new spin. Produced by longtime collaborator Elvis Baskette (Chevelle, Alter Bridge), the surprise EP marks the group's reintroduction to the world, five songs of upbeat, riff-heavy rock 'n' roll. It's the sound of a band re-invigorated, from the driving pop charm of "One Girl" to "The Ride," awash in acrobatic, heavy metal-inspired guitar work and soaring hooks.

And while the freewheeling set might mark a shift in sound from band's back catalog of beloved songs - from their 2011 debut LP DEUS EX MACHINAthrough "TOP OF THE WORLD," the 2013 John Feldmann-produced hit featured in trailers for Disney's box-office-topping Big Hero 6as well as on So You Think You Can Dance, CBS March Madness, and the Australian Open - ORIENTATION ultimately does what Greek Fire's songs have always done: They challenge, comfort, and celebrate listeners. They embody life in all its forms.

Alongside ORIENTATION, the band have been prepping two more releases: the forthcoming full-length BROKEN and FOUND, an EP companion to LOST and the final piece of a trilogy. In many ways, they're the yin to ORIENTATION's yang, more ponderous and solemn - a reflection of the challenges life has thrown at them in recent times.

"I've dealt with a lot of depression - not just myself, but through others as well," the frontman explains. "[BROKEN] is a very sad record, but at the same time, it's ultimately got a very realist point of view that always has a light at the end of the tunnel. It's not trying to hide behind anything. Ultimately it tries to know the world and God, that life is good and you're going to be OK."

It's in this way that the full scope of what Greek Fire is in 2018 comes into view. What was intended to be a relentlessly optimistic vehicle for Moon and his bandmates has evolved over time. Unlike before, the band aren't afraid to let the darkness in these days - in fact, they know it's the only way to get back to the light. It's that unending commitment to honesty that's brought them here, and it will ultimately be the path leading them forward. Because Greek Fire is no longer a just a snapshot of the moments that steady us, the ones that inspire and offer hope. Over the past decade, Moon, Roth, and Venus have evolved to tackle the ones that seek to bring us down - and have bounced back more resilient than ever before.

"If the band lasts for 20 years, I want it to represent every emotion you experience 20 years," Moon says. "I want it to be found at times, lost at times, broken at times; in love at times, in lust at times; heartbroken, devastated, overjoyed. I just want this band to represent life."

Two Healthcare Professionals from Salt Lake City Deploy to Florida to Assist with Federal Health Response to Hurricane Michael

Social Worker Ms.Terry Begay and Paramedic Mr. Zoltan Bihari, both of Salt Lake City, Utah, have deployed to assist the federal medical response to Hurricane Michael as part of the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS). Both healthcare professionals serve as members of an NDMS Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT).

NDMS is a federal program that can support communities with medical care, veterinary care, and mortuary assistance during disasters or public health emergencies at the request of states; NDMS is among the resources made available by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR).

“ASPR moved about 500 medical and public health personnel, along with their caches of medical equipment, into impacted areas,” NDMS Acting Director Ron Miller said. “Most of our DMAT personnel are augmenting medical care at overwhelmed emergency departments in the Florida Panhandle. Other medical personnel are coordinating with Urban Search and Rescue teams to triage people rescued or are providing basic medical care for evacuees at shelters.

Thus far, our teams have seen more than 1,900 patients. NDMS efforts to help residents of Florida will continue until the state no longer needs the support.

NDMS comprises approximately 5,000 physicians, nurses, veterinary staff, paramedics, fatality management professionals, and experienced command and control staff, organized into more than 70 response teams. When an emergency overwhelms local and state resources, ASPR looks to the expertise within NDMS from across the country to assist in the response. Although they hail from communities nationwide, when deployed they are federal government employees working as part of a coordinated federal response.

As part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, ASPR’s mission is to save lives and protect Americans from 21st century health security threats. ASPR leads the nation’s medical and public health preparedness for, response to, and recovery from disasters and public health emergencies. CREATE THE VOTE 2018 IS A PROJECT OF OUR 501(C)4 ARM, AND AIMS TO TURN CANDIDATES RUNNING FOR OFFICE INTO CULTURAL CHAMPIONS. WE WANT TO BOOST CANDIDATES WHO LOVE UTAH'S ARTS AND HUMANITIES AND UNDERSTAND THE POSITIVE IMPACT CULTURE HAS ON UTAH'S COMMUNITIES, FAMILIES, AND ECONOMY.

Ballots have been mailed and we wanted you to be aware of a couple of items that we endorse! We believe in Utah's kids and their education.

Proposition 1
If passed, the legislature would pass a gas tax of 10 cents per gallon to benefit education and our roads. 3 cents will go to roads, 7 cents to education, 80% of which goes to K-12 and the remainder to higher education.

The Utah Cultural Advocacy Alliance (UCCA) board supports this because any funding boost to education also boosts arts and humanities education in schools.

Proposition 4
If passed, this would create a citizens committee that recommends voting district maps to the legislature (our constitution requires that the legislature must vote on all redistricting maps). The legislature has to approve new maps every ten years after the census is conducted. This committee would prevent gerrymandering. For example, the city of Ogden is split into three house districts!

We at Utah Cultural Advocacy Alliance support Prop 4 because we believe fairer districts leads to better-elected officials and thereby better champions of culture.

Rap Tax in Spanish Fork (Prop 7)
A RAP tax which stands for Recreation, Arts and Parks is a sales tax that is added to the regular sales tax rate of .1% (1 penny for every $10). Revenues generated from this tax are reserved for specific areas of focus in the city such as parks, cultural arts programs, and recreation programs. For more information visit www.spanishfork.org/raptax
