The Stolen

Announce North American

Fall Tour

New Single "Stuck" Out Now

Old Bridge, NJ - October 17, 2018 - The boys of the pop-rock outfit, The Stolen, have announced they will be hitting the road this fall for a 28-day North American run, kicking off this Friday, October 19 in Richmond, VA, and wrapping up in their home state of New Jersey on Saturday, December 1. For a list of full dates, please see below or visit: https://www.thestolenmusic.com/.

On the tour, the band shares, "We're really excited to get back on the road and see some familiar faces, along with new ones as well. Touring is great for us because we're able to get in front of some of the most dedicated and passionate people we have ever come across. Without their support, what we do wouldn't be possible! We owe them so much and we're stoked to head out and see them!"

Before they honed their songwriting skills to craft inviting pop hooks and kinetic guitar melodies, the four New Jersey natives who make up The Stolen started off as a group of friends who explored their love of music through learning and performing AC/DC songs together, ripping covers of classic rock anthems and Motown tunes at their grade school talent shows.

Almost 10 years later in 2013, the band released their first EP, Adults, which they recorded with Jesse Cannon (Animal Collective, The Misfits), and for the release of their single "Chardonnay" in 2015, they worked with producer Paul Levitt (All Time Low, Have Mercy), and began the transition from their pop-punk beginnings to put more focus on their pop sensibilities. 2016 marked the arrival of their self-released, self-produced EP, I'm So Dead, and in 2017, the band released their most collaborative effort to-date, Fragile Heart.

Over the past few years, The Stolen has been recognized and heralded by notable tastemakers such as MTV and Alternative Press, have shared the stage with bands and artists such as Neon Trees, The All American Rejects, Jake Miller, and more, and have played Vans Warped Tour. The band's single "Overboard," released earlier this year, hit the No. 21 on the iTunes Alternative Chart, and perfectly illustrates where the band's sound is headed.

=======================

Dear Friend,

When one of Michael Moe‘s associates suggested that we do our event in Miami, it didn’t take me long to realize it was a great idea. After all, he said, it’s the gateway to Latin America, it was the beginning of America for ONE America, named for the discoverer Amerigo Vespucci, and it’s also (I added) the state where almost every single education sector has launched a major innovation that has copycats all over the nation.

I’m so excited that CER’s 25th birthday will put us there, in Miami, this Thursday and Friday, not just to celebrate but to more deeply consider the important work that still is ahead of us.

Uniting with people from every corner of education to which CER is now devoted, from university heads to big thinkers in the investment space, to K-12 thought leaders to visionaries, government leaders and even a cultural icon (Miss America), I am more than excited by the prospect of having a new plan and a new agenda to accompany and help guide all of you in this incredible quest for better education for everyone.

As I learned studying political philosophy at Dickinson College, education is literally the oldest and most important value we have. It was lauded by the ancients as the key to civilization, it was praised by our founding fathers as a prerequisite for a safe, peaceful and prosperous republic, it is celebrated daily by our teachers, our parents, and our school leaders.

The foundations and purpose of education are often overlooked as the most critical levers we have for our nation and us to exercise all that we have been given and that lies in front of us. Education transforms lives. It unites diverse peoples and views. And it’s our task - our imperative - to make it better.

If you’re joining us later this week I look forward to seeing you. If you’re not please plan to follow us on Facebook & Twitter with the hastag #CER25 and watch for reports to come soon after, along with video coverage and more.

We still have some room if you’d like to join us; just go online to edreform.com or give us a call at (202) 750-0016 and we’ll get you set up. Otherwise we look forward to sharing with you in the coming days and beyond.

I’m thankful to our board leadership, especially Jon Hage and Michael Moe, our partners at ASU, all of our sponsors, and you of course, for your continuing support and encouragement.

                                                                            Very truly yours,

                                                                             Jeanne Allen

Drowsy After Another Restless Night?

Try These 5 Tips  For A Good Night’s Sleep

Millions of Americans toss and turn much of the night, unable to fall asleep – or to stay asleep once they finally do drift off.

Maybe it’s worry about bills. Maybe it’s relationship problems. It might even be a sleep disorder keeping them awake when they should be snoozing soundly. Whatever the reason, more than one-third of American adults don’t get enough sleep on a regular basis, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Without proper sleep, you could be drowsy at work the next day, unable to properly perform your job and irritable with everyone around you.

And that’s not all.

“Lack of sleep can leave you fatigued and with a weakened immune system, which could make you more susceptible to infections,” says Dr. Shab Krish, author of Restore Your Rest: Solutions for TMJ and Sleep Disorders (www.krish.com).

“Lack of sleep can also decrease your mental acuity, disrupt natural hormone levels, and lead to a variety of other significant health problems.”

Krish, who is also director of TMJ & Sleep Therapy Centre of North Texas, offers a few suggestions for those who find themselves still grumpy and exhausted when morning arrives:

  • Set your clock to remind you bedtime is approaching. You probably already set your clock so that you wake up when you need to in the morning. But Krish suggests you also set an alarm for 30 minutes before bedtime. “That will be a reminder that you need to shut off your electronic devices and start to unwind,” she says. Krish says you should strive to go to bed at the same time every night.
  • Set the mood. Krish says your bedroom should be an oasis. She recommends having dark shades covering all windows and eliminating any noise. Set the temperature between 68 degrees and 72 degrees.
  • Follow rituals. Establish nightly bedtime rituals, such as taking a warm bath, listening to relaxing music, or reading. “Getting into a nightly routine will tell your brain that it’s time to start relaxing and preparing for sleep,” Krish says.
  • Use your bed only as a bed. People lead busy, stress-filled lives, and sometimes they take their work to bed right along with them, determined to answer one last email or finish that report before they turn out the light. Bad idea, Krish says. “Doing work or other stressful activities while in bed can make it difficult for your brain to relax when it’s time to sleep,” she says. “Go into a different room to finish that work. That way when your body hits the mattress, your brain knows it can start to relax.”
  • Rule out a sleep disorder. Experiencing trouble falling asleep, waking up regularly during the night, and snoring are a few of the indications that you might have a sleep disorder, such as sleep apnea, Krish says. “When you wake up in the morning you should feel refreshed,” she says. “If you don’t, that might be an indicator of a more serious problem and you should consider talking to a medical professional.”

Finally, Krish says exercise also can help.

“Regular exercise is not only good for your body and overall health, it’s also good for your sleep,” she says. “A solid 30 minutes of daily exercise can make a huge difference in your quality of sleep.”
