12-4-2018 - Evening
This morning (Tuesday) the line continued from 6:15 am until 12 Noon at
MOSAIC for toys for children - infants to teens! It was really marvelous,
beautiful, to see the community come together to support each other. Saphira,
age 7, checked out of school early and came with her mom, with items they had
made for families. She was delighted to give to a family in need this season from
Iraq that had five children. One ESL Teacher, Althea Paskett, and her extended
family, gathered points and purchased on-line appliances, for MOSAIC's ESL
students (English to Work), MOSAIC volunteers who had served all year, and
families in need. Joan, our receptionist, who recently lost her daughter and great
granddaughter in a fire, still crocheted colorful wreath pins for every holiday
volunteer. There are so many stories about community outreach and love... The
infinity and power of giving and receiving.
Tomorrow morning... the lines at MOSAIC begin again between 7 am and 8 am,
MOSAIC doors will open at 8 am, and Deseret Industries vouchers will be given
to families to assist with winter and holiday needs; as well as a few more bags of
toys, stuffed animals, and some hand-knitted items. We'd love to have you join us!
Constructive news regarding the dynamic sharing of resources, employment leads,
and care between diverse people, well it is what democracy, and humankind,
community, life together, is really all about.

Compared to all of Utah, Salt Lake City gets significantly fewer of its movers from the West. It also contains a notably smaller proportion of Californians in its mover pool compared to the entire state. Florida’s contribution to Salt Lake City’s mover pool decreases, while the city receives a significantly larger proportion of movers from Texas and Illinois.
