ABC4 News Names Emily Florez Primary Co-Anchor and Reporter

Utah Native and Award-Winning Journalist Joins Evening News Team for KTVX (ABC4 Utah), KUCW (Utah’s CW30) and ABC4.com

 

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah and IRVING, TEXAS – Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: NXST) announced today that Emily Florez will co-anchor and report for KTVX (ABC4 Utah), KUCW (Utah’s CW30) and associated digital services including ABC4.com, serving all of Utah, Southwest Wyoming, Southern Idaho and Northeastern Nevada (Salt Lake City DMA #30). Ms. Florez joins the news team as weeknight co-anchor and reporter for ABC4 News at 5:00 P.M., 6:00 P.M. and 10:00 P.M. beginning Monday, January 7, 2019.

 

A Utah native and Emmy-Award nominated journalist, Ms. Florez returns to Utah with a decade of breaking news and investigative journalism reporting and anchoring experience. Throughout her career, Ms. Florez has covered many high-profile news stories from the trial of Elizabeth Smart’s captor, Brian David Mitchell and the disappearance of Utah mom Susan Powell, to the fatal shooting of Laquan McDonald in Chicago. Prior to joining ABC4 News, she reported and anchored at WMAQ in Chicago. In addition to reporting the news of the day, she has delivered front-line coverage of severe weather and storm damage aftermath, as well as exciting local and national events including the World Series title run of the Chicago Cubs.

Ms. Florez is a graduate of Brigham Young University. She began her journalism career as an intern at ABC4 Utah. Emily and her husband live in the Salt Lake Valley with their two children.
